Seen him before. I want to see if he can take a punch before I proclaim him as 'America's next heavyweight star'. Having said that, I hope the hype is justified for this guy because we need some top fighters in the heavyweight division...and fast!
Not fought any one of note so far. Have to wait and see. Least we know he doesn't mess about when it comes to getting jobs done.
Just to point I do not think he is the next heavyweight star, just thought i would see the thoughts and the Hype in the title would attract posters. he looks to have it all, no need to rush him, seems he stepped it up in his last fight.
Dunno, the opponent he fought last time out is the typical 'American record padder' in the hope of getting a big money shot at one of the top heavy's. It seems his hope of getting a big pay day was dashed when he lost to a fighter with a 0-9-1 record, so he was fed to the 'prospect' instead.
Heard a lot about Wilder, but I've only seen the dude once. We shall see how good he is when he gets his teeth into a decent level of opposition. Anyway, you're all ignoring a very interesting point here: Wilder didn't choose boxing- does this actually prove the theory that all of America's new great HWs are in the NFL and basketball? The talent is obviously there, but why choose a corrupt sport like boxing if you can make it into a regulated franchise? Interesting thing to look at, methinks.
i think this could be a reason he could fail, when things get tough he may not have the dedication to stick with boxing esp if he doesnt love the sport, coming over from NFL so late.
This kid is no one to put much stock in. He's very basic, wild at times and poor technically although with seasoning he could improve as he was a latecomer to the game, but he's too green at the moment to proclaim him the next big thing. He has alotta physical gifts but that only takes you so far.
Have we got more info on Tor Hamer (all i know is that he's fighting on the Cotto - Forman undercard) Fair enough Deontay has got a bronze medal, but we all know that sometimes Olympians dont make it as pro's (tyrell biggs, francesco damiani) Hope we do have a decent prospect on our hands ....
I've seen him on Friday night fights a couple of times when channel 5 used to show it at 4 in the mornings and he was knocking over tomato cans so it was hard to get a real gague of his abilities
