According to Dana, He is the next fight for Silva. Chael does not play. Lets see how good Silvas BJJ is because he will be buried in that mat for all 5 rounds getting pounded. :happy
As pissed as I am at Anderson and the garbage he's been doing lately, Chael really has nothing overly significant for him. Anderson will toy with him as well. Anderson has submitted Travis Lutter - far better BJJ then Chael. Anderson has submitted Dan Henderson - = or > wrestler then Chael. Also, Anderson isn't exactly a slouch at shrugging off takedowns. Henderson tried a good majority of the 2nd round of their fight at UFC 81, but was simply unable to.
At this point in time, I think Chael has more grit and gameness than Hendo. I dont think he can be submitted by Silva. The way he blanketed Nate and pounded him was unbelievable. Fighters peak at diff times and I just have a feeling its sonnens time. If Silva plays and taunts, he will get slammed, thats all Im saying.
I agree chimba although Sonnen is suseptible to getting tapped by dumb moves he was super impressive against Nate. With that said I still think Sonnen is getting overlooked. With that said I'm not real confident he pulls it out, but he has a better chance then the last 10 guys. I still would rather him fight a stand-up striker then another ground fighter but I doubt the UFC will match him against a decent striker.
Chael will trash talk the **** out of Silva and make him mad. However he will also go after him like his life depends on it. I can't wait to see it.
You mean the Chael Sonnon that was very, very nearly submitted by Nate Marquardt? That one? That one won't get submitted by Anderson Silva? Not saying he 100% will, but to say he won't is beyond absurd.
I can't wait for this matchup and hope Sonnen can turn it into a FIGHT. We know Chael won't run but that has not been the problem with Silva recently. He is the guy doing the running. It's very hard to catch a guy who is intent on not engaging. I hope Chael can get his hands on him and pound on him a bit to test Anderson's tolerance for damage. We are however just as likely to see Silva pull off a sub as we are a KO. I see this fight ending with Chael tapping or sleeping. He's a bit lazy with his sub defense. Having said that, I hope that it's a war with Sonnen pulling off the upset so we can then see Silva reassess his recent choice of fighting style. Often times a loss is the best thing to happen to a fighter like Silva. I'll be rooting for Chael Sonnen this time.
Sonnen has the best chance to batter Silva at this point. I don't think he can win - but it will be a good fight for as long as it will last.
Pure grappler? Yeah, probably. We don't know for sure, but maybe. However, luckily we're not talking about a BJJ Gi-match. Anderson is belted under the Nogueira brothers. They don't exactly hand those out to just anyone... Nate is a 2nd degree BJJ Black Belt (Bet you didn't know that! (Yeah, yeah, sure you did)). So, I'm well aware of their differences in grappling.
yeah i agree with that and myself included would like to see him get beat but sonnen is not the guy to do it. I do think Vitor and GSP can beat him though or at least have the best chance under 205.
I'm not crazy about this fight. Chael Sonnen can't stop Silva - his only hope is to grind out a decision over the five rounds with his superior wrestling and top control. I think Sonnen will get KO'd or tapped quite quickly, unless Anderson starts to mess around like he did with Leites, Cote and Maia.
