Montiel will probably just vacate his title.

Yeah. Quite a few of those Manny/Money/Mosley threads. Gets a bit tedious at times. Think Hasegawa will find Montiel too easy to hit and will stop him at some point. Donaire is more of a threat imo.

Good fight! I think Hasegawa will take it though.

Hesagawa all the way, probably similar to Mijares-Arce beating.

I am actually more interested to see Hasegawa fighting Mijares, even if Mijares has dipped considerably.

Now, that will be a competitive, highly skilled match-up.

And I agree, bantamweight is so damn deep right now.

Okay... too weeks now that the Montiel side demanded more money and no updates ever since. Does anyone know what's going on?

    Hopefully this will push through.

A big fight for lower division is what we need.

Okay now this is getting ridiculous! Still listed on boxrec and no official cancellation whatsoever... can we safely say this fight is pushing through?

Here's a google translated WBC related news:

Fernando "Cochulito" Montiel leads a series of championship fights World Boxing Council (WBC), which in the coming days will be held in Japan. The WBC showed their pride in that land of the Rising Sun conducted in the coming days several world title contests.

"Cochulito" Montiel, world champion bantamweight World Boxing Organization, will challenge WBC crown against Japan's Hozumi Hasegawa on April 30, on a billboard in which Toshiaki Nishioka exposure defend his fourth world title at super bantamweight Balweg Thai Bangoy, Philippines.

Now all I wanna hear from now on is that both fighters are looking good in camp!

    Hasegawa's sparring partner named!

With little less than 3 weeks to go, one of Hozumi's sparring partners was named: he'll use Filipino Michael Domingo for his preparations vs. Montiel. Domingo is 30 with a record of 30-14-2, but on a roll lately beating Miguel Roman and stopping Ratanachai Sor Vorapin and Jose Navarro. Is his style similar to Montiel's, does anybody know?

no not really, Domingo is a plodder with a high work rate but still makes for excellent sparring he will definetely help out Hasegawa's inside game if it comes to that.

Damn this fight gets little publicity... all that 24/7 **** and stuff like that dominates the board. This fight is just as interesting for the hardcore fan as Shane-Floyd IMO.
