Want Froch but I'm going for a Kessler split decision, Froch will probably go home saying he was jobbed. In a close fight home advantage will again tell I think. Personally I never felt Kessler looked like he'd lost heart against Ward as some have said, I'd say he just looked baffled as to how to solve Ward's movement and style. Against Froch he won't have that problem and Froch's chin is not as iron as he'd like to think at this level. The Taylor knockdown didn't even connect with his chin but his temple and Dirrell had him stunned, though I think he's probably a harder puncher then his style and temperement would suggest. In many ways they seem similar to me, tall stand up boxers who don't move their heads much and are outmaneouvered by athletic types who can give them angles. I'd say they will largely cancel each other out, hence making for a very tight decision.

Incidentally, does anyone know if Kessler has ever been down in his career?

I feel Froch's Kessler's worst nightmare at this stage of his career. Froch takes away Kesslers jab, the rest of his armoury, the right hand, theuppercut, all nulified. Froch batters Kessler for 6 one sided rnds before he is pulled out, His face masked in blood.:deal

Just watched Kessler vs Ward again and I have to say that Ward made a great many mistakes in the fight, being downright reckless in patches. Kessler should have capitalised on this, but seemed unable, his timing was atrocious. Kessler seemed unable to deal with the pressure that Ward was applying, through his speed but mainly his strength and aggression. When Ward attacked Kessler on the inside, Kessler had no answer and wasn't prepared to reply with his own rough house tactics. In short, Kessler seemed to have aged and lost his edge. Perhaps fighting in front of such a partisan crowd was what made Mikkel uncomfortable and unable to focus on the man in front of him, but one thing is for sure, if the same Mikkel turns up when he faces Froch, he will be in for a more painful experience than he endured vs Andre Ward and in all likelihood a shorter night.

Don't see why Kessler is getting stopped, has never been down or looked particularly hurt.

Kessler, tentatively on points. Hopefully Montoya's worked on getting Kessler decent sparring, improving his timing and using that uppercut more.

Know what you're saying but he looked pretty hurt at the end of the Ward fight mate. Could see Kessler getting TKO'd if the fight wasn't stopped on the clash of heads and Ward isn't exactly a power puncher. I think Froch is going to put an end to Kesslers time at the top. The last think Kessler needs coming off a defeat like that is a hard punching, durable, rough, confident opponent who just keeps getting stronger. To put it another way, I am convinced that Froch will prove to be Kesslers worst nightmare.

I wished I had an advent calendar for this one. I've been counting the days since I knew they'd be fighting in the tournament and since the date was announced.

Even before Kessler lost to Ward I always thought Froch would beat him home or away. This is the ideal fight for Froch. He relishes going into the lions den more than most fighters, he thrives on it. And whilst I think Kessler is the better boxer techinically and will outbox him I think in the opening few rounds I think Froch is going to drag him into his own fight.

Kessler has a point to prove and I think he'll come out the traps quick and put Froch down in the first few rounds. Froch takes time to warm up and get through the gears. He will land a power shot at some point and when he does this is when the fight will turn. Kessler is too much of a warrior to not fire back. Because of this it will become a battle of wills. Deep, deep down I think Kessler thinks he is on the slide. He knows he's had a decent career and I think if he does get beat he's going to want to go down on his shield. He will fight toe-to-toe till the end. I just think in the boxing trenches there is no super-middleweight that can beat Froch. This is where 'The Cobra' will take him and this is where the fight will end.

I think it will be brutal and at times the shots these guys will be made to take will make your jaw hit the ground. But I've always said Froch by stoppage in the 10th and I'm sticking to my guns.

I am discontented by the sheer ignorance and patrioticities on display in this thread.

Kessler did not look the same as he once did against Ward, but he put up a fight against a great fighter.

Kessler against Ward was able to block anything less than a lightning quick punch that Ward threw. Every single Froch speed punch was blocked.

Kesslers head isn't exactly mobile, but he can block punches competently, Froch will plod forward throwing his jab, one at a time. Kessler will block the vast majority of these.

What makes you all think Froch's jab will penetrate Kessler solid guard? Combinations can get past it, but single shots? No.

Kessler is not going to fold under pressure like Jermain Taylor.

This fight is a mismatch and will be a slaughter if Kessler's right hand 1-2 is back.

It probably won't be, this fight will be approximately 11 rounds to 1 on my scorescore 8-4 on yours' and that of the British press.

The key point I am offering you all here is Froch's jab will be blocked and Kessler has easily enough about him not to fold. Froch's best weapon is his slow, pressuring jab combined with his chin. This is not an issue for Mikkel 'the English Lion' Kessler. What happens when Froch;s opponent doesn't fold and has proven pedigree above that of a Pascal? He loses...

Think it will be a Kessler decision.

Hopefully though Froch will pull it out of the bag in a fight that will start out pretty cagey but end in a chaotic bomb fest!!

If Froch is to win I think he'll have to get up off the floor once or twice in the process.

    Still > 60/40 Froch.

I've fancied Froch for ages and now I'm really doubting it.

It seems to me though that lots of people are making Froch out to be a monster. I think he's getting overrated in this thread.

Shot Kessler is like a combination of Pascal and Taylors strong points, minus any weaknesses.

Froch got caught by a single Dirrell left at the end of his course, while backing away from the punch, and it still gave him rubbery legs for a sec.

Me thinks Froch is visiting the canvas this saturday.
