Pavlik lost because of the cuts. I think it's fair to say that he lost the fight, but won the event.

And even if he does have that 'fire' again, he could still lose to Martinez. Turned out that those who claimed this was a bad style match-up for Pavlik were right.

Well, as far as Hatton goes, he is going to be a HOFer because all he did was lose to two p4p kings and did beat a HOFer himself. Pavlik can't claim anything of the sort right now. Might never because I can't see how even Jermain Taylor makes Canastota. I'd like to be wrong since he's 28, but if he does it it won't be at middleweight.

Pavlik could win a rematch, IF he can change his gameplan. Rounds 4-8 show that he could do it if he stops running with abandon with that mediocre jab at slick fighters. Jack Loew won't fix this problem.

kelly pavlik is the same fighter he has always been period, that was the problem from the start.had he fought a hopkins or martinez in his 5th pro fight or 10th pro fight or 20th pro fight or 30th pro fight he would most likely get out boxed.pavilk's style and skill set was good enough for him to win the fights he has won and the way he won and at the same time its the same skill set that cause him to be embarssed by greater boxers then him in hopkins and martinez.

he could still beat everyone he has beaten and he still would lose to the 2 guys he has loss to as well.it really is what it is.and he was 178 at fight night, well hell hes going to move up to super middle weight now.everyone should know by now he cant beat any of the slick boxers at super mw either.ward and direll he cant beat, kessler i dout he could beat either.he can slug it out with the cobra and try to out point arthur but i dont favor him against any of those guys.

i think he just take his remtach with martinez and get himself a new trainer, will it help i dout it because he will always fight like kelly at the end of the day.maybe a few tricks here and there but for the most part he will always be the same fighter.

im not gone say he looked bad beucase he looked like kelly, fighting the same way that got him to the title.he just never fought guys like hopkins and martinez and just because you can hit hard does not mean you going to hit your man hard.power is nothing if you cant land flush.pavlik cant handle slick boxers, not to many boxers with pavlik style can either.he tall and lanky, with very little ryhthem and hes uncordinated as well.
you take a good boxer with some speed and head movment and kelly will always have problems.

if you did not know by now then you should have already know by now.whats next for the ghost ?

You touched on my sentiments exactly. While I had/have no difficulty citing Kelly's flaws, a reluctance to throw shots and go "bombs away" was heretofore not one of them.

Kelly needs to scrap, for lack of a better word, to win and he did not seem to want to engage at that level Saturday. Sadly, the results were predictable.

I think Pavlik is about the same he was and that's the problem. He should have improved. In boxing, if you don't improve, you're in deep ****. People knowing him can correct me if I'm wrong but I have the feeling he's not dedicated enough to boxing. He reminds me of Ricky Hatton.
