I think having professional internationals would give boxing a bit of a lift and would be a good way to add a little spice to a fight card. The whole card could be Scotland fighters vs English fighters (or welsh/Irish) at different weights. Sports such as darts and golf do it so why not boxing? It might create some new fans as sports fans tend to be very patrotic and love to see their country against local rival.

    What does everybody think?

I was looking at the Kessler-Froch undercard, kinda hoped it might have had a British prospect fighting a Danish one, unfortunately it didn't.

    Shame.

    :-(

You could have the English/Irish/Scottish middleweight tourney - Macklin, Barker, Duddy, Lee and McEwan.

Lee is fighting a weak opponent next in yet another 10 rounder :huh

    Duddy is fighting Fraudez jr

Macklin is trying to find a trainer/promoter combo that he's not used yet

Barker will probably be out for a year while Mick finishes his dinner

McEwan has said he wants to fight here in future

    Sorted - get it done!

As much as I have enjoyed The Super Six I'm not sure if, as a format, it works: For example, the withdrawal of Jermain Taylor and the fact that there are rumours that Mikkel Kessler may pull out should he lose to Carl Froch devalue the tournement.

The period of 18 months - 2 years is also too long in the boxing World.

If we were to have an England vs Scotland "match-up" it should be done on one night like the "Boxing World Cup" between Mexico and The Philippines. We could try and have British Title fights between English and Scottish fighters in around 8 weight divisions and host it in a moderately sized football stadium (QPR in London, Hibs/Hearts in Scotland for example).

It would be a great success and would capture the public's imagination.

Something like this would be good notoriously tricky to work out though with the mish mash of promoters and fighters and injuries

I thought the UK vs USA was a good idea that they did as part of the contender series. That could be easily done by one promoter

Yea promoters would probably ruin it as always, i think it would def capture the publics imagination if it could be pulled off. Such an easy thing to market for the media, could maybe have a main event being a big fight and then a series of british contenterish level fighters below. The only thing is that Scotland doesnt have many decent fighters a the higher weight so if one or two got injured it would be hard to find replacements

Yeah the Super Six has been a really good idea but it's obvious the format needs altering if they are going to run with it in future.

Maybe domestically the fights could be 8 rounders in the prelim, 10 in the semi and 12 in the final.... at three month intervals subject to cuts/injuries etc - there's a lot of variables to factor in.

Maybe go to a straight knock out format with prelim fights co-featured on the same bill.... :think
