Should be held in a neutral country IMO and Andre Ward shouldn't be exempt from this. It would be a disgrace if the tournamnent final was marred by a hometown decision or dodgy refereeing. What say you??
What would the neutral location be though when you consider where the fighters are from? Unless there were 2 Americans or 2 Euros in the final someone will have a moan about it.
I think Vegas is a neutral enough location for any big fight. I think it'd be a bit petty to want to move it Atlantic City just so Ward's fans wouldn't be there.
It's never a particularly rewarding idea to hold boxing matches in places where people don't care about them. Ward v Froch in Germany? Abraham v Dirrell in London? Dirrell v Ward in Spain? Any of them likely to attract a crowd?
I think Froch has dwelled on the possbility of a hometown decision too much. He reacted angrily to the suggestion of it in a recent telephone conference call and nearly ate a reporter for suggesting that he might need to KO Kessler to retain his belt (see link below). The talk of him retiring if he feels he gets robbed is not a good sign, he has been thinking about this too much. He should put those thoughts out of his mind and just focus on positive energy and his gameplan. http://news.boxrec.com/news/2010/co...o-power-–-i’m-ready-rumble”
Theres a lot of money involved here. Even ignoring the loss of the live gate money theres no way Showtime have arranged all this so they can show a Ward vs Dirrell final live from London at 5pm on a Saturday afternoon.
