I prefer Chandler to Pintor, but maybe that's purely cosmetic as i mean it in the sense of just watching them fight and rating them accordingly, rather than going on effectiveness. I still prefer Chandler though.

What about Lou Ambers? Of course Armstrong got him but come on, this boxer had a fantastic career.

Man it's tight. Chandler is prettier and more multi faceted but i am not sure he's any better - or indeed as good/great.

It is very tight. I'm not dismissing Pintor, his effectiveness and heart etc cannot be denied.

Do you edge toards him yourself?

I think if they fought at their best i edge to Pintor. Oh sooooo slightly. It's close both H2H and resume wise imo.

Politics indeed. Getting a WBC vs WBA fight sactioned fully back in that day was nigh well impossible. Thank god we got SRL - Hearns, which was only brought about by some very heavy influences. Chandler - Pintor didn't have the same overall support and failed, as did Sal - Pedro.

If you're from Germany, b, do you know how good Eckhart Dagge (sp) was, 'n what happened to him?

Thought he was gonna make alotta noise internationally, but it never happened.

I think this is an absolutely woeful call for this thread. Really, really dreadful and totally unjustifiable.

My own pick would be Sumbu Kalambay. This man produced performances to equal anything else caught on film, yet he rarely ever gets mentioned in discussions regarding the best mw's h2h or the most skilled boxers.

Kalambay is kind of the opposite of Cotto.Gets more respect on this forum than most others i've read on the net.

I always get a laugh when i see his name popping up on a thread in general, as it's guaranteed to barely get over 5 posts.Even if its involving someone with loads of hype and fans/"haters" right now like Williams, Pavlik.

Spelling is perfect. Dagge was already a junkie when he won the belt. Even when he won the title he was an alcoholic and on pain pills. During training camp he often vanished for days just to come back with a hangover, than threw in some pain pills and started training harder than anybody else. He also needed to get a beating for the first few rounds before he started going himself. With this kind of behaviour and mindset the time you spend at the top won´t be long. That was true with him. He later trained Dariusz Michaelchweski but when he spent more time with him in the bar drinking than training he got fired. He died on cancer in 2006. He was never popular in Germany despite his entertaining style and personality. He was always bitter about it. His Europe and world title belts still hang on the wall of his old favourite pub "Ritze" in Hamburg - I think some people on classic already have been there.

Not the most underated of all time but i think Eusebio Pedroza should get mentioned a lot more than he does

His display against Mike McCallum stands up to anything I've ever seen. I think he'd give many great middles a very difficult night.

On the other hand, Miguel Cotto is outrageously flawed. How anyone can think he fits the description of "most underrated fighter of all-time" is just absolutely mind-boggling to me. His attempts to defend himself against the incessantly similar attacks of Antonio Margarito genuinely had me wondering whether he had ever been inside a boxing gym before.

Luis Federico Thompson is one I've recently come to appreciate. Even though the fight we have on film with him features him past his prime, you can see how cagey he was. Held his own with Paret even though Benny was putting in about three times as much effort as him.
