As you all know, fighters usually tend to take some time off after a loss: -to heal -to think about their loss. -to have some psychological rest And they usually have a tune-up against some lesser opposition: -to regain some confidence -to shed some ring rust after the lay off (in an easy way) But all of these aren't possible in the super six tournament. The fights are more or less tightly scheduled and they are all high profile fight against good opposition. How much will this pace affect these fighters? Will they be the same after this tournament? Taylor was already quite shot, he was blasted against Pavlik, then against Froch, and finally against AA. All three were very brutal... he quit the tournament but if he were to come back and fight on, will these crushing defeats affect his performance? Kessler took a beating against Ward, and even though he won the fight against Froch, he also took quite a beating. His next fight is against Green who is a big puncher... Froch looked awfull in his win against Dirrell. His skill level was almost zero and he knew he looked bad even though he won. Against Kessler he took quite a beating. Froch lost for the first time, which will take away the thought of being invincible. His next opponent is heavy hitting AA... Abraham did good against (shot) Taylor but he took a whooping for the first time against Dirrell. He tasted the canvas for the first time and he lost for the first time. These facts will also scar his pride... Dirrell lost against Froch but it wasn't so dramatic as his win against Abraham where he received a concussion. Hopefully this will be the only time he is on the receiving end of this (see Taylor). His next opponent is the new tournament favourite Ward... Ward still have to fight his second fight, and he did good against Kessler so I stay out of this one for the moment, and the same with Green who is yet to display his skills in the tournament...
When talking about Taylor, what concerns me most isn't that he's been KTFO, but that he's literally fallen asleep each time. He's going to need speech therapy next year when the damage sets in; hell, his eyelids may have trouble opening whenever he sneezes hard. You're right; it may prove to be permanently damaging to a few of them to have so little time between defeats and renewed training.
This will just be a testament to their greatness. It's very oldschool to just jump right back into things win/lose/draw. Except for the cases of being KTFO, I think all the fighters will be better off for this experience. Boxing fans and fighters need a lot more super sixes.
dirrel will be fine, the only permanent damage is to his reputation, fictional concussions with theatrical leg shaking dont cause any actual harm... AA was still a **** for throwing that punch though. to be honest i hate the both of them after that fight. it was dirrels reaction that caused the dq though, when barrett caught haye on the ground and haye was ok, the ref did nothing. exact same foul, different result. dirrel was running out of steam from... running. and was starting to get caught, he took the easy way out. IMO yes im a ****, dont even bother posting to tell me.
An aditional question to the t/s or anyone who cares to answer, After the super six, when they are allowed to take things a little more easier and take a few safer options without fighting the best 3/4 fights in a row, do you think they will be miles above the rest and all 6 show superiority over the clan at 168? As in do you think they will be far more battle hardened and see fights with the like of Miranda, Bika, Andrade ect a breeze? On a side note: I see a lot of re-matches after the super 6 and Bute getting his shot at the winner
