Whether or not it's close, does a Mayweather win on Saturday make him #1 P4P?

If he wins convincingly he 1 ups fish. Simply since we are playing what have you done for me lately. Mosley>Clottey. So he gets the win over a dude that kicked Pacs ass. And the dude Pac would not fight(other than himself). Remember JMM chased fish down for a rematch in which fish chumped out. JMM even went to the phillipines looking for this dude.

 

He would have a case if he dominates Mosley, but if it's close, no not at all. More than likely Pacquiao will still be my number 1 P4P fighter.

 

why is it bs he fought the man at ww-Cotto and TKO'd him. Cotto beat mosley and Clottey and floyd fought a lw and came in over weight-the most disrespectful thing a boxer can do outside of loading gloves.

What I'm saying is that in a fair world, not counting margaritos win over Cotto, I have Cotto as the number one WW when he and pac fought

I think he's #2 no matter what. Pac dominated Clottey, Cotto, Hatton and Hoya in a very short period of time. A win over an old, past prime Shane Mosley doesn't top that.

 

That what makes a mess out of the situation cause Floyd never lost. (I know he retired) but he never lost. I would rank both of them #1, I would leave the #2 spot blank.

No..even if he beats mosley in a dominant fashion he still won't pass paccquiao since pacquiao has been dominating everyone since moving up from Super Featherweight.

Out of those 5 fights cotto is the only one that really won couple of rounds against pac. One judge gave 1 round to delahoya but we all know how that fight turned out.

 

No, FMJ is too inactive. FMJ will get points for fighting and beating Shane, but how much? Shane is 38 years old, and not in his prime. He's still great though, and #3 pfp. FMJ is also supposedly rated at #2 pfp, but he's only fought 3 fights in the last 3 years. Also, as you said, he fought against a past prime Marquez who moved up two weight classes to fight him. But the biggest problem I have with FMJ is his inactivity. How can someone get so many points for fighting only once a year, while Pacquiao fights two times a year, and against prime opponents? If there was a way to quantify pfp ratings, it would be more clear.

 

That's funny to me, "old, past prime Shane..." and you bring up Hoya and Hatton who Mayweather beat before Pac. Cotto himself is damaged goods too to be honest. Clottey is a living punching bag. Impressive wins, very impressive.

I do. If Floyd does win convincingly against Shane, there'd be a valid argument for co-#1. Pacquiao hasn't lost or retired, it doesn't make sense to peg him down. He's continuously performing beyond expectations so there really is no reason not to have him at the top notwithstanding any other fighter's achievements.
