Waldo fought Castillo and Williamson to get into that eliminator with Sam Peter. Jeremy Williams, Yanqui Diaz (Gomez conquerer) and Martinez were Sam Peter's path to the eliminator. Now you ask yourself if either of those paths seem more dangerous than the other.

Donald was coming off a huge layoff. Byrd had looked progressively worse leading up to the Povetkin fight. Nobody on this site with any brains was picking Byrd to beat Povetkin.

Pure hype doesn't hold the consensus #1 to a 114-111 affair. Pure hype wouldn't pick himself up off the canvas after a monster right hand to win a 115-110 decision.

PS - only in hitting the canvas first.

I am calling you a liar, yes.

    Both, in tandem.

McCline like it or not was an ACTIVE top 15 heavyweight that Sam Peter took on short notice. Povetkin had a lengthy amount of time to prepare for a Donald who had been off for near 2 years.

So you then admit that Sam Peter is more accomplished as a professonal and that he is more experienced. What else is there to discuss? While I agree that Povetkin has tremendous potential, potential is not the same as accomplishments. Therefore this thread is ******ed.

I was comparing Povetkin to Peter. Whatever Klitschko did is irrelevant.

Well since you're dancing around my argument it's proof that they're still way better names than anyone Sam Peter fought before getting a meaningful fight (which he lost :yep)

Pure hype does get throroughly outboxed by the consensus #1 and almost KO'd by Jameel McCline.

Exactly. Povetkin is getting WAY overrated at this point. IMO, he's borderline top ten at best at this point. He needs to beat an actual current contender to be talked about in the same breath as the top guys like Peter.

Sure. Whatever you say. Experienced posters on this board know exactly who you are. I don't need to confirm it for anybody. You calling me a liar has no leverage.

And I am the liar?? As many times as I stated, the only Klitschko I root for is/was Vitaly.

Donald even after 2 years off would most likely outbox McCline's ears off and would not be dropped 3 times.

There are accomplishments and "accomplishments" The only two Peter has at this point is a wbc interim belt he never fought for and loss to a timid Waldo. Very impressive.

Donald was coming off a lay-off , but argueably should of been WBA HW Champion of the World, for christ sake!

Byrd was HW Champion, but lost to the best HW in the World in his previous fight.

If the Toney that Peter fought is an indication of what he had left by what happend in his next fight, it is not much of a win. Danny Batchelder rocked Toney, and he barely won a SD!

Mccline lost to Zuri Lawerence, and barely beat Rob Calloway on FNF's , and was thought to be totally shot. As Mcccline was so terrible against Calloway on national tv.

No, you claimed Peter did **** to get into that eliminator. Waldo did equally **** to get into the eliminator as well, going by your logic.

I'm not dancing around your question. I answered it. Donald had been inactive (almost 2 years) and coming off of 2 losses. McCline has been active and was coming off of 5, count them, FIVE fights in 2006 and the early 2007 loss to Valuev where his knee gave out. Only a moron would have Donald ranked higher.

Waldo nearly lost. He only won by 3 points which is anything but comfortable. And he took McCline on short notice, accidents happen. He recovered and decisively beat McCline.

It wasn't a question, it was a factual statement. I said that Povetkin has accomplished more in defeating Larry Donald and Chris Byrd than Sam Peter did up until the time he "earned" a title eliminator against Wlad.

Do you honestly disagree with this?

I am also not in favor of him fighting Klitschko in his next 2 fights. I would rather him giving Peter or Sultan a boxing lesson first.

No I don't. But you championing that as though it matters in this context is ******ed. Read the OP. This is about their entire careers, not what Sam Peter had done up to his fight with Klitschko.

96 clinches over 12 rounds helped to make that happen too. You and I both know Randy Newman sucks when it comes to that mess. And two of those illegitimate knockdowns, aka rabbit punches, are a direct result of a taller opponent leaning in and turning his back on you.

I guess that explains Peter hitting 5'10 Toney on the back of his head.
