The scumbags of boxing

Tyson started out as a kid who used to offer to carry shopping bags for old women, then when he got them round the corner he'd punch them out and steal all their money.
So he's always been a scumbag, really, and a manipulator.

Other fighters did similar things as juveniles, but Tyson clearly had trouble rehabilitating.
And the money men around him were pretty bad in their motives too. Only Teddy Atlas walked away.

I'm pretty sure Atlas got kicked out.

 

Yeah, that might be right. But the issue was that he wanted Tyson to be disciplined.

 

The problem was that his idea of "disciplining" was to pull a gun on a 15 year old.

Well, he wasn't just any 15 year-old, he was a very dangerous and physically strong 15 year-old, a top heavyweight amateur boxer with a history of violence and delinquent crime.

You make it sound like he was an poor little child.

Tyson made inappropriate demands or gestures towards a 12 year old girl, if the story is to be taken in its entirety.
Atlas acted on that. Sounds about right to me.

 

You beat me to it. Absofugginglutely. One of the flat out most delusional, scummy, slimy, shady, multi-negative adjective characters to ever "grace" the sport. Jose Sulaiman should be imprisoned not allowed to indulge is delusions of grandeur.

Agreed. Tyson was out of control, and Atlas had to do something that Tyson would react too. What was he going to do, take away his TV?

 

Was talking about him this morning. Its ashame the example this kid is setting for young people.

I've read that Atlas stuck a gun in Tyson's face/mouth, and Tyson ran away ****ing squealing like a baby.

Truly a terrible thing to do to someone molesting a pre-teen girl. Atlas did no wrong there in my opinion.
