Cotto and i dont think its even that close. But, whilst i always believed that Cotto would have beaten Hatton at 140, since rewatching alot of Cotto's fights at 140 i think it would be a war and im not really sure who i woultake to win.
There could be a lot of things said about Hatton, but no one can say that he ducked anyone. You don't exactly "duck" Junior f'n Witter by fighting Mayweather, and then Pacquiao. That's ridiculous- he went after far faster, stronger, better fighters than Witter or Bradley or whomever that guy is referencing.
Hatton did duck Witter. I think Hatton would have beaten him, but he didnt want to chance his arm with him, and at one stage Witter was WBC champ and Hatton still didnt want to know. Hatton also didnt sign to fight D Corley when Corley was undefeated WBO champ and Hatton was #1 contender for his title for a long time, instead fighting nobodies defending a WBU belt. Hatton showed no interest in facing Judah who would have given him a good match, and please dont say the reason was cause he was KOd by Tsyzu. Collazo, Castillo and Maussa had all been KOd or stopped and id rate Judah as a harder fight than those mentioned. Hatton was only interested in facing Collazo cause he wasnt considered a puncher and had been KOd, and that Hatton felt after the weigh in he could get up to 11st 4lbs saying Collazo would struggle to get so big. He felt he would be the naturally bigger man against Maywheather as Maywheather had come up, and same with Pacquiao, having his 1st fight at LWW after jumping from SFW to LW to WW then back to LWW, gave Hatton the thinking he would be the bigger stronger man. Hattons father Ray was trying to justify the bout saying they are around the same size. Disagree all you
by the time witter had won his title hatton had already signed to fight urango, he then fought castillo and then pbf, so given a choice of fighting castillo and then pbf or fighting witter, who would you pick? as far as saying he thought he would be the bigger man against pbf, becuase pbf had come up, pbf's previous fight was against oscar at 154 and he had been fighting at 147 since 2005, so it was hatton that was moving up. although there's no doubt that hatton thought he would be stronger. as far as collazo, collazo is a fairly big ww in fact i think i read he was moving to 154 for his next fight, and was also a lefty, a decent fighter and a belt holder. so there's no shame in taking that fight, at fairly short notice, having started training for laczano before he got injured. and judah moved up to 147 in 2003-2004, but hatton didn't fight for his first world title against koysta until the middle of 2005.
Another pointless bullsh!t thread. Hatton is the most over rated fighter this boxing generation. A primetime Cotto absolutely MURDERS him in a landslide....
Hatton was #1 contender for Corleys WBO title, and Hatton didnt face him, so Judah beat Corley. By the time Judah last defended that title Hatton had had around 33 fights, but still didnt feel ready to take a step up until he met the aged Tsyzu. Very well managed
