Oscar has forever been referred to as a pretty boy but now that his career is over I'd like to say that he proved to be pretty damn tough when it came to absorbing punishment ...

He suffered a few flash knockdowns along the way in the early part of his career but other than the liver shot loss to Hopkins I cannot remember him seriously hurt since the flash knockdown v.s. Quartey ...

He took the best of Mosely and Vargas. Even in his last fight he got blasted with dozens of shots from Paq , the same sort that crushed Hatton and stopped Cotto ...

    Your thoughts ?

DLH has one of the best chins of the past generation, never stopped or seriously heart in his prime, only stopped when well outsized(Hopkins) and Past prime and weight drained(Pacquiao)....He took the best from Quartey, Trinidad, Mosley, Vargas,Rafael Ruelas, and other very good punchers

I dont think he was ever seriously hurt, just flash knockdowns. A lot in the beginning of his career at the lower weights.

oscar had an awesome chin. yeah bernard stopped him but that was a body shot, not a head shot. and in all honesty, he probably could have continued physically against pac but what was the point really...he was getting worked over real bad.

i can't recall him ever being put on ***** street from a head shot...buzzed maybe but he's taken some bombs in his day. he was knocked down some earlier in his career but he would often get up and punish the guy in response.

Very good, but largely he avoided trading and taking too many punches

He had a very good chin, and also a pretty good defense which allowed him to not take too many flush shots to the head with consistency. He knew whom he could stand and trade and take shots from and whom he couldn't. Against Trinidad, he largely boxed and moved because of Trinidad's power and slowish feet. Against Quartey, after getting dropped and hurt, he was more careful and tenative because he was, in his words, "nervous about his punching power".

Against Mosley, at least in the first fight, he saw that he could take his shots. So he had no problem trading and leaving his chin out there and took Mosley's shots well. He was more bothered by the bodywork.
