It's probably due to his dominance over a division for so long, jumping two weight classes and beating the no.1 there (Tarver) and arguably beating a man who was ranked in the top 3 P4P (Calzaghe) and the DOMINANT fashion in which he beat Pavlik, who came up to beat up an old man, wasn't made to come up in weight by Hopkins.
1. Mayweather 2. Pacquiao 3. Malignaggi I dunno really. I was gonna rate them on ability alone in the hope for making something a bit different, but then I realised my top 10 was gonna be wicked ****ed and make no sense.
Shane this high up, friend? His form over the his last 4 fights: Absolutely schooled by Mayweather Impressive win over Margarito - though it was a perfect stylistic match-up for him. A very close fight with Mayorga. Beaten by the once promising (but never to be great Cotto) There is nothing wrong with this form, but it is not that of the P4P number 3... can you imagine Floyd struggling like this? Andre Ward has to be placed above him. Gamboa has to be placed higher. Mosley's form is more comparable with a Juan Manuel Lopez right now. Also are you backing Mosley over Mayweather in their upcoming fight, so as to fit with your rankings?
I aint trying to make out Hopkins isnt/wasnt a great fighter, I agree with the people who're saying the p4p rankings should be a very current thing thoug whos dominating their weight class the best/who's moved up in weight and performed admirably etc. and in the last couple of years I dont think Hopkins really qualifies in that regard Obviously hopkins achievements are going to **** all over basically everybody elses who could be ranked p4p these days, but then so could evander holyfields.
Question is did Floyd fight someone who was as highly regarded as Margarito was at that point? And no, Floyd will beat Mosley easily IMO; Shane doesn't have the feet to track him down, as soon as he plants his Floyd will slip out of range and get back to pot shotting. 118-110 Floyd.
Why? So you can take this **** :bart 1. Pac 2. Mayweather 3. Hopkins 4. Williams 5. Bute 6. Martinez 7. Cotto 8. JMM 9. Wlad 10. Mosley Rip into it then I tried to be a bit different :yep
Good post. As I say, I used to go for form over the last 18 months, but so many of the top guys have been inactive as of late or taking on pointless match-ups (applies to Hopkins and Floyd, as well as Shane for inactivity) that I've gone for a general 'who is the best/and who's been consistent as of late' Hopefully this weekends fight will help me get a bit more of an idea:good
Why not put Floyd above him now mate? Foresight isn't as easy as hindsight, but in this case you know what is happening, make the correction. You are knowingly listing fighters in the wrong order. This is confusing. Results should reflect what you P4P list says, it shouldn't just be a P4P list knee-jerk reacting to results. You are better than that.
