Roy Jones Jr. knows that McCall takes a great shot and would be content to hit, move, pile up the points for a clear UD. It is a shame McCall did not have more of an offense because if he had it to go along with that granite chin who knows how great he could have been? Jones Jr. UD
It's winnable for Roy Jones but i don't know Mccall has good power so he can win by Knockout if he went for it.
His power wasnt that bad though, more his general boxing skills. Just imagine how he would rate if he retired after KOing Lennox instead of rematching him while addicted to cocaine. And if you are in the mood for imagination, what if his last incarnation had landed him a shot against Wlad and he landed like he did against Lennox and stopped him (before the drugs bust). He could be ranked an awful lot higher than he currently is without him being all that much better. (if that makes any sense). this is a good fight. Jones Jr is so elusive and well ahead on points (and he speed might even result in a tko stoppage) but McCall is so much bigger and stronger you would just expect him to win by KO. Not a bad fight though, IMO. Especially at the time of the Ruiz fight.
Jones wouldn't be able to hurt McCall and would be very aware of that. His speed should be the deciding factor and get him a comfortable decision. Jones at the time of the Ruiz fight was untouchable. But there is the possibility of McCall just trying to walk through him, if he manages to get close enough and land a big clean shot it would be all over. Jones needs to fight the perfect fight and at this time he was more than capable of doing it. Jones by wide UD.
Oliver would have had the strength to push Roy around.. Plus , Oliver has a great boxing brain and is very good at cutting the ring off.. Oliver cates up with a Roy Jones who is ahead on points in round 8.. and seizes the moment getting the TKO by blasting him against the ropes.. Too much power and knows Roy can't hurt him at all... NO respect at all for Roy wins it for Oliver.......
I think McCall at that point was a much better fighter than Ruiz. He also used to just wildly rush forward to get close to his opponents and land some big shots. Roy was able to keep Ruiz at distance with his jab and footwork alone, plus Ruiz clearly respected Roys power. I don't think Roy could do that against McCall - it would be a much more physical fight, and that favours McCall. Of course Roy Jones is a much, much better fighter P4P, so I don't know...
