You'd really have a hard time finding a a resume with greater punchers faced then LaPorte.

I know certain posters here like Sanchez feel that he had one of if not the greatest chins of all time. And watching rounds like the 2nd of Gomez/LaPorte, I definitely can't disagree. Who else did Gomez ever unload on like that?

    Thoughts?

You must remember that Juan did have skills that enabled him to Ride. Parry, and Block punches also, albeit he did have a hell of a chin - But what about Marcus Villasana who didnt have Jaun's Skills, fought as many big punchers as Jaun, and was also never floored, Marcus took greater punishment than Jaun so i would have to place him at least Alongside Jaun.

Again Sanchez had great Skills so was not called upon to display his chin so Much, to find a great Chin, you probably have to looked at the lesser skilled fighters - who had to display this quality to overcome more skilled fighters.

You got a link to Gomez-LaPorte round 2? Is it on YT?

He certainly faced a lot of big punchers.

I praise Marcos Villasana to high heaven whenever I get the chance on here. He was a lower weight Ollie McCall. ****ing unbelievable.

Hard to say. He had a splendid chin, just because his record says he fought thw top dogs doesn't mean they all hit him cleanly (after all, did Ali really take a massive blow on the beard from either Liston or Foreman?), but he was a very 'live' contender. As is the rock-jawed Villasana also.

Marvin Hagler is one of the few that rank higher than Juan.So does George Chuvalo.

He was rather defensive at times but I agree that he definitely had a very solid chin.

I thought Roldan hurt Hagler, ive never seen Laporte hurt. Good shout out for Villasana ive seen him take bombs from punchers like Hodkinson,Nelson,Esparragoza,Fenech and never saw Villasana so much as blink.

I'd say Hearns and Hart hurt Hagler worse than Roldan did. The Roldan "knockdown" was one of the worst calls of the sort I've seen; clearly a slip on Hagler's part.

Laporte was rocked badly by McGuigan in the last round of their fight. It's very overlooked because it wasn't in the US, but he was clearly staggered by a left hook. Laporte was winning the round after staggering McGuigan in the 9th, but then Barry turned the tide with a left hook and took the rest of the round.

Hagler hurt by Roldan? Don't think so. Was badly stunned by Cyclone Hart though.

  15. Mccall! Never seen him hurt. Always my favourite pick for this question
