i saw only three things he needs to work on. Name me another 19 year old with less to work on and i'll die of shock. He needs to learn to use the ropes to create space for short punches. He must figure out how to keep the jab crisp. He has an excellent jab when he uses it correctly instead of using it as a range finder. He has little choice but to learn to keep his hands in place when punching. Awesome thread guys, nice to see that the 147 division has a future after the greats are gone.
Yey i agree with you, Alvarez looks good but they better keep him away from the top dogs for awhile, Id say ability wise he is a bottom top 10 guy at best probably more like top 15. He should fight a couple more tough journeyman then fight a guy like Alfonso Gomez too see exactly where he is at.
Smashed Cotto to bits this boy! Some fancy hand movements and seemed like a solid down to earth fighter aswell, could be big success. Want him to take on the bigger better Cotto brother though Yeah he looked good. Crazy he is 19 and had so many fights! For sure be one for the future. Looks so exciting. Thought at first he had been thrown in at the deep end against Cottos brother. Major respect to him like beating the crap out of Cottos brother. Hope he keeps rising through the ranks but not too quickly. Don't want him getting brain damage or anything before his prime.
Good solid test for Canelo who would win but could be a good learning experience for him. Id say Alvarez wins in competetive but convincing fashion. He would probably stop Hatton:think
Alverez look very good to me as well.. he got caught early as I believe he came in overconfident.. but he clearly regained his composure and proceeded to dismantle Cotto.. with good skills.. He still needs a lot of work, but looks like he has the goods to go a long way..
yes he is very composed and technically sound for a 19 years old. of course i knew that he is not a kid anymore cause mexican fighters do start fighting as a pro at a much earlier age.
I'd suspect the corner or referee stopping the fight, especially if it was in the United Kingdom. Alvarez does everything better than Matthew.
He's still a kid. He has a lot of growing to do. Physically he isn't the finished article, and I'd be disappointed if they wanted to put this kid in a world title fight this year or next. He's young, give him time. He did well the other night but the reality is that Cotto was beaten by Diaz, and looked a couple of divisions smaller than Alvarez.
