That is Shane's fault (and Floyd's to an extent :yep). He flat out ignored his advice, and admitted afterward that he's an idiot for doing so.

Shane was tight out of the gate. That's on him. The whole time Naz was telling him to chill the **** out, which is what any trainer in history worth his salt would and should have been doing. You have him and Uncle Roger switch corners through training camp and fight night? The outcome remains the same. Floyd was faster, stronger, more accurate and mentally tougher.

I agree (the naz part). The guy says a couple of fairytale quotes and all of a sudden he's a legendary trainer. Come on...

Everyone was saying how amazing he was for Mosley vs Margo and Hopkins vs Pavlik. I ask, do you really think Mosley and Hops would have performed any different had they not had Naz? Naahhh.

From what I heard in the corner, Nazim was too caught up with his 24/7 bull**** he was spouting and everyone loved.

"You're cut from a different cloth" ...."You're a warrior" ... and all that jargon.

Maybe he shoulda gave Shane the towel or those blue sponge sticks.

Good trainer - certainly aint the Messiah cats made him out to be. Some strategic genius.

That sword cuts the other way. You replace Naz with anybody else and Shane only could have done worse, not better.

Sugar said last night was destiny...it was his destiny to get consumed with overconfident bloodlust and wind up getting beaten up like a backchatting son.

The thing is, a great trainer has to be one of two things (or both): a good strategist, and/or a good motivator.

Some are more of one than the other.

Steward, for instance, is better at outlining what needs to be done, but his communication skills and ability to convey what needs to be done with a soft enough touch is suspect.

On the other hand, you have someone like Jimmy Montoya whose technical advice is just so-so, but he's the best cheerleader you'll ever find.

Some boxers need one type, some need the other. It's about finding the perfect fit.

The thing with NR is that he's versatile. He offers the best of both worlds. If you as a boxer can't respond to what he's saying, it's on you. He gives you every opportunity to work your way back into it, if you want it deep down, and if you're physically able. He'll dig it out of you, and point you in the right direction. If you fail it's on you.

Keep your eyes on USS Cunningham. He'll probably look better against Ross than he did against Adamek (which in itself would probably be enough to win it).

Hyperbole doesn't win fights for your fighters. The fighter has to be conditioned and he has to have the right game plan. Shane had neither. I think it was Roach who said you don't want to be a friend to your fighter, they will not respect you as a trainer. This seems to be the case with Naz and Shane. They like each other too much. Shane was not pushed.

WTF? It's criminal to not prepare your guy physically for the fight of his life. What ****ing barometer was Naz the genius using to measure Mosley's stamina with? Hell yes Shane was looking for that big shot, he had to conserve what energy he had left. Friggen Naz is telling Shane to throw more, get active. Christ, look at your fighter, he's completely ****ing GASSED. How's your 38 yr old gassed fighter going to up his work rate at that point???

He was not gassed from throwing punches. If he was gassed as you say it was from being tense and tweaking like a meth addict.

Because his fighter lost does not diminish the job he did as trainer. His work was just neutralized by a great fight and another great trainer on the other side.

A trainer can only give advice. It's up to the fighter to follow it and unfortunately for Shane, he didn't. Nazim said something like,"You're looking for the perfect punch but you won't get it" and Shane always loaded up his punches and fought jittery but the only thing though is that he didn't throw enough bodyshots. Ya can't expect quick change for someone that's been doing these mistakes for years. Shane's best and only round was the 2nd and even then Mayweather didn't go down I know that must be discouraging. Mayweather was the better fighter last night and I take nothing away from him. After their careers end and a few years go by, they enter the HOF so y'all can't be too disappointed.
