and when he did fight a 154 pounder, it was an old DLH who had just got his ass beat by sturm, knocked out by hopkins, a disputed loss to mosley in fight II, so......not a huge accomplishment at 154...when there was winky, forrest, williams all floating around....after he lost to mayweather he would spar 10 rds with forbes and tkod by pacman....:good
I'm not exactly sure what your point is, but yeah, I don't think Floyd ever needed to go to 154. If he wanted to go up and grab a belt and/or a payday, fine, he's allowed to do that for his biggest payday ever. The point remains that he's grown into 147 well and that's where he should stay. Plus if Floyd is a ***** for beating up on smaller people, I'd hate for him to go to 154 and then Sergio or Paul would have to be a ***** for taking on the "smaller" Floyd. Also, just for posterity, Manny didn't TKO Oscar.
If he were to fight Martinez, it would be far more epic for Mayweather to fight him at 160 for the legitimate middleweight title. If Floyd were to become the true middleweight champ, his all time ranking would skyrocket.
Im feeling this, if he wins all 4 then he is top 10 ATG without a doubt, and it is possible, the one who could be a problem would be Williams. But Even if he lost the last one to williams he would be a 80% certainty for top 10 ATG status
I am not a Mayweather fan and hoped he lost last night but why would in anyones mind would you think he would move up to 160 to fight Martinez for a title? Mayweather doesn't care about titles anymore. I think Floyd is not moving from 147 until he retires in a few more fights. The only meaningful fight outhere with big money is Pac. And maybe in 1 year fight either Khan, Bradley or Alexander if their "stock" rises. He wont do any high risk/low reward fights at this point.
I want Khan to fight him in 18 months as i feel his greater Speed, Reach, Workrate, Jab would give Floyd lots of problems. Amir Khan 23, the future of boxing.
There is only one fight that matters and it has to be made, random drug testing or no random drug testing. If Mayweather wants to go back down to 500K-750K buys he can fight a Williams, Martinez or a Bradley. If he wants only mega fights befitting of the megasuperstar he thinks he is, Pac is the ONLY option.
I will say it again. 1. Pacquiao 2. Williams 3/4. retirement. I think he can retire if he just fights these two guys. I think he should fight Pacquiao and if he manages to beat Pacquiao, if Williams can still make 147 he should fight Williams as this will be the biggest fight in boxing if Williams is still dominating. Martinez could be an option too as he could fight Martinez instead of Pacquiao.
