When floyd was 16 he was also fighting at 106 pounds as an amateur....

 

Still doesnt change the fact they started competitve boxing at the same age, and the same weight....fact.....pac turned pro is the only difference...

There is lower gaps between the lower weight classes that manny was fighting at....Mayweather went from 130-154....

It is a million times easier jumping weight from 112 to 115 and so on at the lower weight classes....the pac weight jumping is way over blown when you examine it closely, kid....

Do you understand the concept of jumping from 3 pounds compared to jumping 5-7 pounds up.....

Pacquiao was 16 STILL growing of course it's only natural to grow into a larger frame......he has been around 144-147(walking around weight for several years now)....

Christ, he was draining 15 pounds for the last marquez fight....mayweather was fighting a 160+ baldomir when he was 149 on fight night for christ sakes...

i think jeff is right on this one. both started boxing (amateur or pro) @ 106 lbs at the young age of 16. so the weigh-jumping of "both" fighters are impressive.

50 amateur fights? i though pac was one of those who went straight to the pros. i remember seeing him when he was 16 in that local tv boxing show and the commentators never mentioned him having 50 amateur fights.

 

I'm feeling Floyd right now, just because, unlike a lot of people on here, I'm not going to trash him for being so good he made it look easy, but I can't take issue with Pac at 1. At this point what's the difference, honestly? Those two are the top two in the world by a WIDE margin before you get to #3.

That being said, their last three are

Pacquiao: Clottey, Cotto, Hatton.

Floyd: Mosley, Marquez, Hatton.

Honestly, I'd say Floyd's looks better. He got an undefeated Hatton who was the 140 king and Mosley and Marquez were both extremely highly ranked p4p. Of course there are extenuating circumstances for the Marquez fight, but still I think those are more impressive than Clottey, a Cotto who's mystique and confidence were gone and a Hatton that Floyd had just destroyed.

 

Pac is still #1. Not only was SSM pass prime, but Floyd just doesn't fight enough in the past few years to deserve the #1 spot. So anyone who beats SSM deserves the #1 spot? I know that Floyd in many people's list was in a top 3 position on the pfp list, and therefore, in a good position to move up. But the problem I have is that people are placing Floyd in the top 3 pfp list based on his entire career, but pfp list should be based on one's record in the past few years, and Floyd simply hasn't fought much in that time. I don't think it's fair to judge a fighter based on quality alone; quantity is a factor too.

 

What if Floyd fought once every 5 years, and he fought a top fighter each time??? The quality is there, but the quantity isn't. So you can't rank Floyd highly on a pfp list base on quality alone. Quantity is a factor.

 

Floyd talent-wise may be #1 or #2 right now, but pfp is not base upon talent or potential, but rather how one has been performing recently.

 

mosley is old and shot pac would destoy him now. Do you honestly think he would lose to this mosley lol. I hope he fights mosley next so the floyd nut lickers can see.

 

id rather Pac be number one and hope him and Pac fight...the victory will be better.
