I can't stand ****** floyd, but he took those punches well! he recovered within seconds and knew what to do to recover (hold, put his hands up, etc)....marks of a good champion. He showed an all around good fight plan and skill set, so gotta give him credit. and NO, his chin is not suspect at all! It's gonna take someone who is fast and can throw punches by the bunches and has a great chin themselves, to beat mayweahter at this stage....and it aint gonna be Pacman. My guess: Sergio Martinez! he has all the tools necessary to make floyd lose. I don't see paul williams or pacquiao beating him.
So you say he has a suspect chin but every fighter you named on this thread has been knocked down or knocked out and he hasn't. He took a perfect shot from Mosley and didn't fall but got back on his ass. Hatton never hurt Floyd at all and got his ass knocked out too.
Mosley sparked Margo, who has arguably the best chin and durability in that division. Floyd got hit with a flush punch by Mosley and stayed up and survived, if anything that must mean he has at least a good chin surely?
I think he has a good chin, I´ve seen all his fights and he has taken some punches to the face by big punchers where he never was hurt (the first Castillo fight as an example) the punch Mosley landed could have knocked fighters out and he recovered very fast from it. Im not saying he has an iron chin, but he can definately take a punch and recover fast from it.
Floyds chin is fine. The thing is on the rare occasion he does get hit flush, it's so unexpected he usually reacts like he's been 'caught cold' regardless of what round he's in. You can't say he doesn't have good recovery powers, he managed to take some decent shots off shane and managed to recover superbly.
i didnt say he didnt have good recovery powers, i give him his dues for recovering quickly and for holding mosley up so he didnt do any more damage. People make out that Mayweather is unbeatable but i think the fact that he has been caught several times and looked hurt shows that its possible for him to be knocked out. It would take a top boxer with decent power to do it but it can be done. That is the point im trying to make
ESPN highlights shows Mayweather holding Mosley arm after that shot. He more than likely would have fallen down without that tactic. ESPN analyst showing it in slow motion and said that. I would say Mayweather does not seem to have great punch resistance. I would say average or a little below average.
isn't china but is suspicious, he got rocked with 100% shots (2 of them) he received from Mosley, the reason we all don't know for sure is that Floyd's defense is so good that he barely gets hit with clean shots.
Floyd's been down once officially, against Hernandez when he took a knee after breaking a hand. He's been once in reality, when his glove brushed the canvas after he ate an evil counter thrown by one of the better punchers at the weight, Zab Judah. He's been buzzed a couple of times in his career, but has recovered quickly and taken the play away from his opponents in both occasions. Floyd may not have a steel chin in the same manner as Baldomir, but it's more than sufficient to absorb a single shot thrown by virtually any fighter at the weight...And given his style, that's about all you can ask of him, really.
