to be honest i'm not actually sure if arum really does want this fight yet. i was thinking the same thing as you when it comes to the money, that was until arum decided in a flash that he'll put manny in with clottey. it seems arum is happy putting pacquiao in with other fighter in his stable. i just hope we don't see manny and margarito as i think he wants manny in with his other fighters and cash in that way.

roach seems to be happy putting manny in with fighters he thinks he can beat, which roach has basically admitted in his reasoning of why the mosley fight didn't get made.

    A couple of points here..

Do not listen to anything De la hoya says. He rides mayweather like no tomorrow because he is the biggest payday for goldenboy since OScar left. That's why his pre fight antics of "he is going to knock him out etc etc" is just blowing smoke. Oscar is there for the payday, his boxing insight has never been right and it is completely exaggerated.

As far as "pacquiao is too flawed" to beat mayweather, in who's eyes?

I remember Muhammad Ali was one of the most flawed boxers, punching going backwords, head hunting never going to the body, his defense was moving his head side to side. What my point here is, Ali was so "flawed" but he ended beating all the top heavyweights of his era. Pac makes "mistakes" but it seems that his "flaws" are what wins him fights. It isn't everyday you face a guy who is not scared to get hit, who punches from angles that you never see and who has blazing fast hands. Don't discredit pacquiao due to his "flaws", it's all subjective and based on empty opinions.

its those mistakes that make him the fighter he is

you think if a trainer tried teaching pac the conventional way of boxing he would be the same fighter as he is today?

Speed kills. And Pacman has amazing hand and foot speed. I would pick PBF to win via UD, possibily even a schooling but anyone who gives Pacman no chance would be crazy.

Manny won't necessarily beat Floyd but you don't need to be a perfect tactician to beat Floyd. The right style, the right man can offset his timing. You think Floyd is perfect. Floyd's just a very technical fighter with very good defense, reflexes and speed. But the guy can get thrown off, he can get hurt with one punch and he lets you in the fight for a long time, his power is not great. Pac's in this fight, he's an awkward southpaw with a very highwork rate, sturdy chin, great speed, fast footwork.

"Flawed" fighters have beat the living crap out of more technically superior fighters in the past because all it takes is the right style, the right awkwardness, particular way of moving, throwing a punch, to throw someone off and haywire them ,have their number, etc, etc...

His flaws will cost him in this fight with fighter on his level of gratness...as Ali's flaws cost him when he fought fighters on his level of greatness. Even when Ali started to decline those flaws started to become even more an issue. Ali loses to Forman if he isnt tough as fukkin nails and crazy and let the man just bang himself dead.....you can get away with flaws with lesser oppoents...but when you meet someone with the same skill level arguably better....those flaws can cost you...the same can be said of floyds inactivity....so flaws to me are still flaws it just takes another fighter who can expose them...Floyd can and Pac can..however i rate Floyd has the better person skill wise and see Floyd beating Pac rather convincingly.

i think this the main reason pac will beat floyd because he has speed, power, stamina but he is also unconventional. floyd will have never met anything close to pacquiao.

southpaw with angles and can throw combinations in a blink. it wont be easy for floyd at all.

Thats it in 1................ Floyd's timing is magnificent but if he slips up once & gets caught over extended then he'll be sucking canvas....If that was pac in the 2nd round then Floyd would have been wiped out.....It happens to all fighters....time is slowing Floyd just a fraction & that fraction will spell doom against Pacquiao.......but as we all know this fight ai'nt ever going to happen as Floyds 0 is worth ZILLIONS in future PPv earnings.....why risk it on one throw of the dice!!!!!

As Floyd said.....Max reward/Minimum Risk & Now he's going to take 1 year..18 months off...AGAIN & praying that Pacman gets elected & goes away & that will leave Floyd to continue along the Sugar Ray Leonard path of catchweight cherry picking Mega-Buck fights...Bad for boxing but good business stratergy from the Mayweathers...He'll never ever risk it against any live opponant at his age now.....why should he!!! He's got 95% following him around & paying up to see him win or lose.....either way you pay & pay you will for the next 3 or so years.

I mean we can also put this in another way to help you understand a little better.

The united states has arguably the most technically advanced military in the world, it has state of the art EVERYTHING is the last remaining superpower. So why has it been almost a decade since fighting in the middle-east and we are NOW starting to see signs of pulling out? UNCONVENTIONAL warfare. IF the Taliban would fight the US bullet for bullet it would have been over in 7 hours. But they didnt, they fight so unconventional that even the greatest military in the world is having putting them out after almost 10 years.

Same with Floyd and Pac. Pac is so unconventional and so "weird" that he has the ability to really hurt floyd's timing and thus disrupt his rythym.

Oh and George Foreman was not a "lesser" opponent than Ali. Let's get real here ALi fought the best and to say everyone was a lesser opponent and that's why he won would be crazy.

It was the hammering of a top notch fighter in Cotto that **** the Mayweathers right up:deal

They saw that Pac could take a full-on WW punch & still pour it on!!! Even if Pac bent to Mayweathers will they'd still find a way out of this fight.........Floyd is slowing down & it's nothing to do with who the best boxer here is from a purist sense,as you said Pac is unconventional & if that was Pac in round 2 last night he would have obliterated Mayweather...........I've bet against pac in the past, but after watching the Mosley fight & the Floyd/Hatton again today i'am now certain that Pac is Floyd's ultimate nightmare....It's those angles of attack that Pac generates.....he's faster than Floyd defensive reactions & as Cotto said, he's the best fighter i've ever fought...I just could'nt see the punches coming.

It was Arum's refusal to promote a fight between Mayweather and De La Hoya that led to Floyd going it alone, look how much money was being made there.

People don't seem to understand that point exactly....Pac is a great fighter, but he is the smaller man in this bout. I don't think its a good fight for Pac, mainly because of the size issue. He is going to have to lunge into PBF just to hit him and we all saw what happen when you do that (Hatton). Sad thing is this PBF vs Pac is not going to be a good fight. I wish PBF was in there with a young, DLH, Tito, Mosley, Whittaker, Etc. I think that would define his legacy more than fighitng Pac. This is a no win for Pac, regardless of his hand speed, punching angles, power. He gives up 5" in reach, thats huge. Unless he somehow gets Tyson's bob and weave and gets in close to PBF, its a wrap....and if I were Pac, i would fight mosley next to get another payday before Floyd ends his dream.....
