My apologies, you're right. I was looking at the numbers from Arum. Only 110,000 were from Puerto Rico, not "over 200,000". So it looks like they are similar draws. There is no way that Cotto is a bigger draw, in the xenophobic, biased nation of America.
Now there similar draws when your argument failsatsch Mayweather v mosley numbers aint even in yet. Cotto is a bigger draw than mosley. Your getting desperate.
I know, which is why I said that if Mayweather/Mosley does bigger numbers, I'll say Mayweather is the bigger draw. If it stays the same and the numbers are similar, Pacquiao is the bigger global star by a long way and they are similar in America. No way is Cotto a bigger star. Maybe in New York but American's are too nationalistic for them to really get behind Cotto. He's not a superstar like Pacquiao and doesn't draw beyond the national bias American's have. They are similar draws. Desperate for what? It doesn't matter to me, who makes more money. I couldn't care lesswho gets the bigger share as long as it's fair. If Mayweather/Mosley doesn't do over 1.2, yet Mayweather wants 60/40, it's a clear duck.
I don't normally comment on forums but you're way off base. Pacquiao/Cotto didn't do 1.6 million it generated 1.25 million buys at $49.99 and $70 million in domestic pay-per-view revenue, making it the most watched boxing event of 2009. Pacquiao earned around $22 million for his part in the fight, while Cotto earned around $12 million. Pacquiao–Cotto generated a live gate of $8,847,550. Richard Schaefer has already announced that the May/Mosley venue did 15,117 in live attendance generating over $11million in revenue. Alos, the fight sold 12,748 closed circuit seats at other casinos and venues in Las Vegas. Check your source of information well. The writer reporting 1.2million is usually off base on these things. Final numbers won't be out for the PPV until later this week. Your post seems to make an effort to highlight Pac at the expense of May which of course is your choice but your facts are off. A crowd of 50,994 turned out for the Pac Clottey fight, which did represent the third largest crowd for an indoor fight in boxing history. In addition, the bout drew 700,000 pay-per-view buys and earned $35.3 million in domestic revenue, however, realize that the tickets were relatively inexpensive (in some cases $25 and $35). I would expect you to submit a retraction forum once the final numbers are released.
this doesnt makes sense at all.. the debate is who is the bigger draw so it doesnt matter where they draw the fans from.. east coast or west coast.. besides pacquiao is not even from the states :hat
You do understand the comparison between PPV and common opponents is a little skewed given the fact that Pacman is not American. Didn't Pacuiao Cotto break PPV for having done great numbers given that Pacquiao and Cotto were both from other countries? Anyway, Pacquiao is a bigger draw than Mayweather. NO one has crossed over the way Pacuiao has since Ali. The guy was in TIME magazine for god sake's.
Pac is bigger than Mike Tyson???????????????????????????? STFU and GTFO with that dumb ****. You clearly prefer him to Floyd, and there is nothing wrong with that. But when you say **** like this, it tells everyone that you can't even be objective. It reduces your opinion to ******* rubbish.
jack, jack, jack, not only are you jumping the gun way too quick, you've also got your numbers wrong. go back, relax, take a deep breath, and just wait for the numbers to be released before you make yourself look even more stupid than you already have.
So basically you guys are telling me that this whole thread is untrue? So the guy name Jack has both fight ppv numbers wrong?
yes not only has he jumped the gun on the mayweather mosley numbers he got the pac cotto numbers way off # so yeah its all bull****
Talk about jumping the gun, the numbers haven't even been released yet. You're gonna look like a ****ing idiot if the official numbers are more than what you've listed in this thread.:-(
You can't do that. When did Manny become a real super star? After his KO of Ricky is when he got mainstream popularity. To compare numbers before Manny became what he is now is silly to me, it's comparing apples to oranges.
