Pacquiao would've destroyed last night's Shane Mosley

Its a different kind of fight. You have two guys fighting in a similar manner, not one guy reaching and missing. Was he exhausted or frustrated? Frustration causes exhaustion, especially when your missing and getting countered on every punch you throw. Thats not going to happen in a Pac fight. Pac is shorter, easier to hit, and likes to come forward. This makes a more realistic fight.
People seem think that Mosley was some kind of boxer in the past.. He wasnt, he was and always has been a controlled brawler with fast hands and zero jab, thats why he got owned by Forrest, Wright, and Mayweather, all very good boxers, all with very good distance establishing techniques.

You are writing in caps?? You must be right then. :patsch

I believe Pacquiao has a better chin, you don't. Good for you.

If you can wipe your chin and pay attention for a second, I'll explain why I think that:

    - I've hardly ever seen Floyd hit by clean, full-blooded punches from guys his own size. But now, two different opponents, DeMarcus Corley and Shane Mosley, have had him in all sorts of trouble with SINGLE SHOTS, and although Corley and Mosley are strong punchers, neither of them is a Tommy Hearns style one-punch KO artist

    - I've seen Pacquiao hit cleanly many, many times more than I've seen Floyd hit cleanly, but I've NEVER seen the higher-weight version in dire trouble holding on for dear life after a SINGLE SHOT

You don't agree? Fine. Let's wait and see who hurts who most with single shots if they ever fight.

I agree with everything you've said. However, even in Mosley's type of fight, Pacquiao in top condition torches Saturday's Shane Mosley with ease. Of course Shane has the power to hurt Pac early doors, but I'd take Pac to make him work, wear him out (he tired ridiculously early on Saturday, frustration or no frustration), then lash him to bits. It's a hypothetical argument so not much point in it, but I can't see this old, tired Mosley making the final bell against Pac, no way. JMO.

id say false because those 2 would not box each other at all.and everyone likes to flip the if manny hurt mayweather in 2nd rd.1st no such thing would happen and 2 the real flip is what would have happend if manny got hit by that punch from shane.whould he slip and dodge and weave punches ? no it would fire back on ***** st and get put to sleep.mosley would not tire against manny not one bit.be like fighting a migit margo.manny gets hit and shane will hit him.thats why thye never fought.manny is not the slick boxer he fights hard and fast like mosley out of the south paw stance.mosley by mid or late tko.manny want fight a slick fighter or someone like mosley with speed and power.if so they would have fought already.freedie knows what he doing when finding manny a partner to fight with.

How so? He took Cotto's punches pretty well admittedly, although he did get stopped in his tracks when piling on the pressure when Cotto was on the ropes and getting caught with a couple of good left-hook counters.

Mosley is in my opinion is a bigger puncher though, and we will never know how much was taken out of Cotto's punches by the fact he was forced to fight at a catchweight.

What I saw was Floyd take a great right hand flush in round 2 with no problem at all, and then take another big right hand that he recovered from within seconds. I'm not so sure Pacquiao would have done so. Even if he was still standing, I don't think he would have had his sense about him to survive as well as Floyd did.

Check the punch stats on CompuBox. Mosley threw more punches in total & more power punches in the last 6 rounds than the first 6. He did not gas, this myth has been dealt with by those numbers. Even Nazeem Richardson was in the corner saying he knew that Shane wasn't gassed.

The thing is, Shane is no bum. He may be in essence a brawler, but he is a skilled one. He knows how to counter-punch, he knows how to defend himself and he wouldn't have sat there like Clottey letting Pac wail on him.

The whole reason why Floyd was able to keep it at that sort of range and fight in the pocket was because he picked his spots, he timed Mosley to perfection and he used his superior and often over-looked physical strength to hold his own in physical exchanges. Could Pac do that?

Well they didn't, and it wasn't Arum's call. Roach himself said that Mosley went to Wildcard to negotiate the fight twice, and Roach told him that unless he got down to 142 or 143, there would not be a fight. Fact.

Since it is the Shane from the fight, I would give it to Pac. But Shane, a veteran, came into the fight looking like a rank amateur, all nervous energy. I cannot say with confidence that he blew his load in just 2 rounds because of this. Old or not he was in excellent condition. Coupled with the nervous energy, I think the fact that he didn't down Floyd with those 2 shots made him lose heart. In regards to the chin of Pac and Floyd, it is all theoretical.
The thing is, Floyd took those shots and still had the presence of mind to get himself out of trouble. I mean, the fact that Floyd still stayed a cool mofo throughout when he could have went all "Judah" in there earned my respect.
To conclude, Shane was scared of Floyd and it affected his performance. Who knows what his mindset would have been if it were Pac facing him. Would he too have gone the road of Hatton being over-confident or could it have ended more like his Margarito fight, cold precision??

I don't think it was his conditioning that had him loose to floyd...it was more FLoyd's speed and change in style that off set Shane mentally and took him out of his game. Floyd did a damn good job and he deserves credit for that win. With that said Manny would have had the same success for similar reasons with speed and not so similar reasons regarding style.

Same goes for this chap. I'm not wasting my time responding to a joker who comes out with sort of boring nonsense. Cotto weighs 146 vs Clottey, then 145 vs Pac, and "we will never know how much was taken out of Cotto's punches". Come back to me when you're willing to be serious with your posts. Yawn.

When you watch the fight again you will see the first punch that landed was massive, but Mosley was also falling in as he threw it and pushed Mayweather back. This punch wasnt the punch that hurt Mayweather. It was the second shot that Mayweather didnt see and when the two fighters were in close. The punch wasnt a big punch, but I believe that shot would have hurt Pac or any opponent just as badly. Mayweather was in fact hurt in the legs from that shot, but he still had his senses. His legs were jello, and it was his ring savvy that carried him through.

I believe with Pacs height and reach, your going to see the old Mayweather, taking less chances keeping the fight at range, and giving himself safer chances to counter from distance. Hes not going to stand his ground and push the fight, because he wont have to.

Pac has to get close and create that same type of opening or capitalize on that same type of lapse from Mayweather and hurt him. Thats the only way he wins, and its possible because Manny is good at throwing punches in all types of angles, but I just dont see Floyd taking the same type of chances with Manny or allowing any type of infighting.

i guess so too but what puzzled me is that both of them are very uncharacteristic.mayweather became more aggresive and shane is right there shaking his hand looking somehow nervous and not throwing any punches.there is no doubt in my mind that shane will lose that fight but i didnt expect it to be in that manner.

Once again, good post. I think Manny's foot speed/movement, output and angles will see him land on Mayweather more than anyone ever has before. Hopefully we will get to see this superfight very, very soon.
