Anybody know the origins of floyds shoulder tapping. When in the ring getting introduced, when his name is being said he always taps left shoulder twice with right hand and right shoulder twice with left hand. Has he got this off a old fighter or just a Floyd thing. Anybody know?
A lot of fighters have funny little rituals they go thru when they're being introduced. Chico's was cool, he bent over and shimmied the whole time they were saying his name then threw his hands in the air when they finally said it. It's little stuff like that that makes boxing cooler than any other sport to me, the individual quirks that boxers have.
Malignaggi does something like that.he shimmies and then when he pops back up he does the executioner dead man throat cutting action.has he always done that or did he pick the shimmy thing up after chico?
:rofl:rofl:rofl Anyway, :yep I've noticed it before, but never really thought much of it. Probably somekind of susperstition he has. I know that Jermain Taylor would always sweep his feet back behind him during his introductions like a bull ready to charge... Hops even made fun of that during their first fight after slipping on some water in the later rounds. Some of you might remember that.
Manny tends to look up at the ceiling as if God was there and then he kisses his gloves and lifts them to the heavens and ****... Nothing beats Cotto's bounce and glare when both fighters meet in the center of the ring when the ref recaps the rules and makes em "touch em up"...love that ****.
Not 100% but im sure thats the first time ever Ricky Hatton and the word Salad have appeared in the same sentence.
They were also in an akward clinch once where Taylor ended up with his back towards Hops and slightly bent over... so Hops pretended like he was spanking the young Taylor with some light taps on his rear end. Bernard's mocking/show boating in that fight had me rolling. :rofl
Off the top of my head, the ones I remember most are Jermain Taylor's wiping his feet and Juan Manuel Marquez dangling his arms to the ground.
