think the De La Hoya win gets under rated. a natural 154lbs fighter, all the odds stacked against Mayweather and a clear win no matter what the judges and some deluded fans think.
to do this i combine how he looked in the fight and the quality at the time of the opponent and for me chico comes out on top great dominating performance over an undefeated betting equal but he has put on some whoopings just not with the ko's to boot
He was favrouite till the day of the fight I beleive, when late money came in on FMJ. I voted Mosley, I expected this to be Mayweathers toughest test to date. He was fighting a fighter still considered to be one of the top fighters in the world, and IMO the number 1 at Welterweight. I also felt he could cause Floyd some problems. Mayweather provided a dominant performance, over arguably his stiffest test. Previously, I would have said the Corrales fight as Corrales was thought of very highly at the time. Even though he didnt live up to his high hopes and wasnt in the greatest mind frame to go into the biggest fight of his life, the manner of Floyd's victory was very impressive. He dominated completly and was decisive with his finish. The Gennaro Hernandez win was fantastic, I used to watch it over and over again and copy Floyds moves. The only detraction on this, is that it wasnt Floyds most aesthetically pleasing fight. At times it got abit ugly and floyd looked quite tense. Although saying that Hernandez is a brilliant fighter and one of Floyds best wins IMO. One performance that hasnt been mentioned is the Angel Manfredy blowout. I beleive Manfredy was in the running for 'Fighter of the Year' going into this bout. Mayweather put on an excellant display by measuring up Manfredy then blowing him out in the second, in his best display of finishing he ever showed.
Zab was the biggest test to date. Zab took first 5 rounds and rocked him twice early on ut floyd came back and found a shot that worked.
Not difficult is it? Floyd was an altogether better fighter against Diego Corrales, and he stopped him.
Gatti was effectively a sitting duck but i was impressed with the combinations Mayweather threw that night. Was a good display, not his best mind you.
Gotta be the fight with Chico. Although I give him praise for making the necessary adjustments and winning clearer against Castillo the second time (even though the judges may have saw it differently - I think). I thought Castillo was gonna take him second time around.
