Good fight that could really show us where Shane is @...How do u think it plays out? Mosley IMO would be able to take a ud something like 116-112...I think Clottey's defense would be very 'active' with the high guard up... I think Shane would throw a little above the ww avg in punches but he would have to be careful with the pitty pats cuz Clottey might not give those any respect and counter with something hard.. Thoughts?:good
I think Mosley still has enough to take the UD. Obviously, Clottey won't fight the same as he did against Pac but Clottey has done nothing to say he can step up to that level. I think Clottey has moments but still will fail to realize being on the defensive most of a round won't win him a round and he'll fade down the stretch. Mosley would win 8-4 7-5 type decision.
Mosley would win on activity but not by much. Mosley would tire, it would be boring, and Mosley's legacy is not too much revived. Unless of course he finds the fountain of youth or some magical conditioning practice that allows him to knock out Clottey and Berto and then looks for a Mayweather rematch. But that won't happen.
tbh I think Clottey (if more active) could beat anyone at ww today except floyd. the fight vs pac was a fix in my eyes.
Eh, hard to tell. I think Clottey certainly has the tools to defeat a shop worn Molsey, but the question is will he have the balls to actually fire back this time? :think
I think Clottey's underrated, particularly after the Pacquiao fight. He gives any welterweight that isn't Pacquiao or Mayweather problems in my opinion and beats an aged Mosley by unanimous decision. I imagine it would be a close fight though. But Mosley V Berto is the fight I would rather see.
I'll take Clottey's size nd style to impose his will on the very talented but smaller Mosley. UD/SD for Joshua
Mosley in a very tight Split Decision. He has the speed and power advantage over Clottey, but if he fails to pull the trigger, Clottey might build some confidence and some points. Lucky for Shane, Clottey isn't a southpaw like Winky or with a punishing southpaw jab, but he does have fast combinations that might stun Mosley from time to time. This would be a good fight. Maybe one Mosley might want to retire on.
Mosley by decision and I don't really think it is hard to see. Mosley is still much faster than Clottey. Clottey could take Shane's punches all night, but Mosley is the better boxer and would win a clear, but maybe close decision. It is amazing how Shane loses to the best welterweight in the world and the #2 and some say #1 p4p fighter in the world, so now Clottey can beat him. Does that make any sense at all? Before the Mayweather fight, how many of you would be saying Shane would lose to Clottey?
Shane Mosley had not fought in over a year before Mayweather. At his age that can be a long time, you can decline dramatically. That decline was evident against Mayweather. I expected Mayweather to beat Mosley, to beat him convincingly but Shane Mosley was most definitely past it and it wasn't Floyd's performance that showed that, it was Mosley's. You can tell when a fighter is old and when it's the other guy making a fighter look old. Mayweather didn't help, no other welterweight (except Pacquiao) would have dominated Mosley in that fashion but he was definitely past it and so yes, you have to reassess Mosley against the top welterweights. Clottey is in my opinion good enough to beat an old Shane Mosley. I would have favored Shane in this match up prior to Mayweather, yes, because the last fight we bases Shane on was Margarito but that was a long time prior to Mayweather and at Mosley's age the decline can be quite rapid. We knew Mosley wasn't prime Mosley even after Margarito but he's definitely declined since then. I appreciate Mayweather for all his skills as much as the next fight fan but anyone that's trying to say Shane wasn't old and past it has their blinkers on. Mosley's almost 39. At that point in their career fighters age fast and fifteen months is a long time.
