Although I am glad for Shogun, I can't but feel sad for my boy Machida. He is a dedicated fighter and when he won the belt finally, I was so happy for him. To lose it so fast and in a brutal fashion gonna be hard for him to take. I hope he can recover from this and improve.

Id be very shocked if Machida doesnt put together some quality wins and gets back in there with a title shot soon. Id rather not see Machida-Shogun III ever because Shogun to me proved hes just a better fighter but I do see it happening in about 18 months or so. Dont know WTF we need Couture-Toney, Couture-Machida would be a pretty cool fight.

Well the damage Shogun caused in the 05 GP looked like a Grand Prix that had a 13 car pileup.

As I expected Machida was gonna show us more. He got involved much more was looking for trips, takedowns and more strikes. Unfortunately in fighting every time you attack you must run the risk of being open. Machida likes to counter but last night he got countered and his head always being up doesn't help plus his balance was really poor. He usually comes in like that to trip a guy but it just put him off balance last night.

Shogun is, stylistically, a nightmare for Machida.

Injuires caused by Shogun. What happened was that shogun ****ed Jackson's ribs at the start of the fight...Which prevented him from fighting at his fullest... But no matter how you look at it..Shogun owned him.

But you're right , Jackson vs Shogun II would be great. We never know...

Afterall , Overeem also did great against Kharitonov in their first fight (mostly because Kharitonov's shoulder was ****ed) , but here again, Overeem caused that injury..

Then Overeem was owned in the rematch.

We might see the start of some gym rivalries like in Pride.

The way I see it, Until the knockout Machida looked great had connected with more strikes knees and leg kicks. he got caught by a deflected punch which hit him on the Temple. it was pretty much a random event. I'm happy for Shogun, he is clearly a great fighter. I've noticed that in MMA when fighters are very equally matched, it's pretty much luck of the draw who wins.
