Who made a bigger impact on the sport of boxing....Floyd Mayweather Jr or Mike Tyson?

Big Floyd fan here. Tyson easily had more impact. If you talk about boxing, two names stood out in their generation. Ali. Tyson.

 

Even though I think Floyd is the better fighter and higher ranking ATG, I am going to go with Tyson. Sorta like how Sosa and McGwire saved baseball, Tyson saved the Heavyweight division. Floyd didn't do that because the lower weight classes didn't need saving.

Mike Tyson transcended the sport and become a household name across the world where as Mayweather is only well known amongst general sports fans in the USA.

Tyson so far. However Floyd isn't finished yet. This question may be easier to answer in 10 years.

 

Unfair Poll no one is as famous as Mike Tyson with the exception of M. Ali. Why dont u try a poll with Tyson and Pacquiao to see the result. Tyson captured the imagination of the public with his raw aggression and KO power which no other fighter has replicated.

And Floyd likes to say he's bigger then boxing??? He's not. Mike Tyson WAS BIGGER THEN BOXING!!!

 

I actually think Roy Jones would have been a bigger PPV draw had he not been in an era of great Heavyweights in his prime, Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe, Lewis etc.

Jones Toney only did about 400k, you would think if they were both prime in today's market it would have done better.
