There were a few whispers about this fight possibly coming off throughout the mid 90s I believe. I tend to think that Norris would be far, far to big for Chavez and would probably win by destruction. Thoughts?
Why you starting threads in such a weird font? You doing them on word first? Norris is bigger than Chavez but also alot quicker, and Chavez would have been coming near to the end at the point they could have been matched. I agree with you Addie, I think Norris could probably get those fast combinations off and be hitting Chavez, then probably sensationally knock him out or stop him.
I think Norris would brutalize Chavez, barring any it-really-happened-! knockouts. Norris owned 154, which is the only weight I would think it could happen at. This is one of those where the best thing he could ask for his health is to have the ref call it early.
I believe they were talking about Chavez meeting him at 147 actually, and Norris had stated that he could make it comfortably at that time.
Yeah, it would have taken place at 147lbs. Unless Norris is completely dead at the weight, he'd be odds on favorite and by stoppage.
Yeah...it just flat out would've been a horrible career choice. ...Unless Chavez blitzed him out of nowhere in the first ten seconds. ...Then it would've been a great career move!
Yes, Norris called out Chavez after he dismantled Blocker on the 'Grand Slam of Boxing' card. he was definitely willing to go to 147 for it. I agree that around that time it would have played out like the De La Hoya fights did, only more brutal
Norris by destruction, I wonder how Norris would be rated if he'd have managed to get fights with the likes of Chavez/Whitaker/Trinidad/Delahoya, he would have kicked the crap out of the lot of them
In a recent interview Terry Norris said that he and Chavez almost got into a fight at an awards show and that's when he challenged Chavez to a catch-weight fight, but overall he said that him and Chavez were friends outside of boxing.
bigcat talked about how norris said somthing pretty humble like "your a great fighter" then smiled. chavez not knowing english thought he had been insulted so barged norris instanly which turned into a bit of a brawl between the entourages. hope biggie sees this thread and ellaborates.
