As per the title, where do you see our great sport being in 2015 ?

There's been a resurgence within the sport I feel in the last few years (probably from 2007 from what I can remember) but how long will this last ?

De La Hoya and that era of the sport has now bypassed us. With Mayweather and Pacquiao now coming to the final chapter in their respective careers, who takes over ? Do we have another global suprestar in the waiting ? In this country boxing is looking in one the best states I can remember for some time. We have 3 lads (In Haye, Froch and Khan) who at the moment are doing well for themselves on the world stage. We have around 10 lads coming through at the moment who could possibly all do very well on the world stage. But the problem seems to arise in our sport when there isn't a huge name for the Americans to latch onto ?

So I ask, will boxing be as popular in 5 years as it is now? Will it be more popular or are the likes of us lunatics on these forums the last of a dying breed ???

It's hard to comment about fifteen years on from now, since it means many of the active boxers will be retired. I don't follow the amateur game, so a little blind.

I do think that HBO will move from being a cable platform to an international web-based content provider, showing their material internationally. International stars are more likely to be born.

Don King and Bob Arum will be dead, leaving GBP really, who will rise to the challenge and break the corrupt stranglehold of sanctioning bodies in a similar way to the UFC - but at what price the integrity of the sport?

Oh, that's right - it's already hopelessly corrupt, so it can't be any worse. Basically, it'll finally be forced to centralise and consolidate with, hopefully, an international governing body in place of the belt orgs.

    Loads of Pacweight contests
Roach will still be a twat
Ricky Hatton still ''won't have the feeling''
Frank Warren will still be suing everybody
The WBA will have ten titles per division

Other than that, fine and dandy

Ricky finally receives his new liver, and is lured back into the ring for a mega showdown with 5 weight world champ and p4p numero uno Amir king Kahn, for the undisputed IBPBC light heavyweight title.
Audley, after being sectioned for the 5th time for dillusional dymentia, will still be trying to talk his way into a world title shot against undisputed Heavyweight champ 'Biggy' B Hop.

In 5 years time a few things that are here now will be gone.

A number of big name promoters will go out of business, in the US and the UK.
At least one of the 4 belts will be gone as well due to going bust.

Beyond that, theres a lack of star names coming through in the US. They talk about building up an Alexander vs Bradley fight for next year..............for what. It will jsut be shown on regular HBO and get maybe 100,000 more viewers. If you do that fight now, the winner is a legitimate challanger for Mayweather and Pacquiao. Currently theres nobody to pass the torch to. you could make Alexander/Bradley, Dawson and Ward big names they just have to fight the top guys.

Boxing will always be here, it will be managed in a different way as it has been through all the decades and generations...:yep

There will be new legends in waiting, there will be scandals, there will be new promoters...:yep

I think as always there are exciting times on the horizon, dislapointing that we don't get the exposure on terrestrial TV anymore, but in 5 years we could see that change back, who knows...:think

I am an optimistic person with an optimistic outlook towards boxing...:good

2015 ain't that far away, we will soon see...:deal
