I wouldn't be completely shocked IF it was fixed. I was almost disturbed by the level of love Pac and Clottey showed for one another. One loss isn't going to put a nail in the coffin of Clottey's career. If I'm in his shoes...I actually wouldn't mind giving up a fight to make a friend look good. Two million bucks to have one blemish on my record doesn't sound so bad. It's not like Arum has me on a short leash. I can look good in the next fight.
Old news. All of Manny's fights are fixed. Another glaring example was when Arum said Pac would beat Cotto before their fight. Cotto pretended to get hurt in the 4th round according to script, and a paid off Bayless stopped the fight so Manny could record a TKO.
Hatton was giving sleeping pills before the Pac fight too. It's all a dirty business, man. I'm telling ya.
if you think pac/clottey was a fixed fight, maybe pbf/mosley was also a fixed fight, coz mosley stopped fighting after round 2. lol!
Yo...that vid is from Mae...he's a nut. I wouldn't take anything this cat says too seriously. Josh gave Manny too much respect in my opinion but I think that actually allowed him to make it 12 rounds. Had he NOT given Manny that respect I think everyone, including Josh knows that he would have been done before the final round. I don't really see too much to that concerns me about the fight being a fix b/c Zab and manny are COMPLETELY different level of fighters. He saw through Zab and knew Manny was the real deal. When Josh was asked about Floyd in the past he gave Floyd the SAME level of respect that he gave Manny and for good reason. Manny and Floyd are on anther plateau when it comes to this sport. They are the end all be all at the moment.
Wouldn't call that a robbery...it was close and can see how you may have gave it to Josh but I can see how me and many others gave it to Cotto. Josh to throw the fight was to go what he is as a man. He knew that had he beat Manny the rematch, paydays and upside were all HUGE. No reason to throw the fight, but he did make it 12 rounds! And he can say that he's one of a few who lasted the distance with manny. A moral victory.
Clottey has never given ANY WW that much respect. He called Paul Williams WEAK. Show me a vid of Clottey respecting ANYONE as though he thought they could beat him. Hell he damn near said FMJ was soft and ducking tough opposition now!
Look man, one piece alone doesn't look funny. All of the pieces? -- Cotto is destroyed by Maro (Top Rank/Top Rank) -- Cotto is gifted Clottey's belt. The cards showed that the judging was fixed and he had no chance of winning. Clottey was so enraged he was going to quit boxing Arum convinced him to keep going. Not like Arum was getting meaningful fights anyway right? Even though he was a CHAMPION! -- Margo is destroyed by SSM. -- Pac announces a fight with Cotto and destroys him. -- Enter into negotiations with Mayweather. ** Up to this point I don't suspect anything. ** -- Pac starts wanting "random" blood testing on three specific dates. :huh -- Talks fall through and *POOF* a Clottey fight is QUICKLY called. Maybe why Arum suggested don't leave boxing? ** Keep in mind WHO fights Josh Clottey? He is huge, durable, and dangerous. He can QUICKLY make a guy look bad. Then we see the fight. -- He hits Manny at will whenever he throws. -- Takes no damage. -- Then gets a *BONUS* that doubles his purse AFTER the fight? -- He then COMPLETELY disappears from the boxing landscape. ** Fast forward to today... -- Now Manny is formally announcing that he has Margarito as a Plan B? Arum is already lubing up your brains for the mind...
yep he tried to open up in the begining but he got caught early and i think that's when he decided to just cover up.
I don't know if the fight was fixed. But here's what I DO know: When Clottey pressed Pac, Pac's offense shut down... Pac threw 1200 punches and couldn't get Clottey to drop his guard... Pac landed 20% on a stationary target... Clottey hit Pac AT WILL... Clottey looked better than Pac after the fight. It definitely was an Arum sales job.
