Well he wasn't prime, then, was he? He could fight at 147, he just wouldn't weigh 147.

I'd probably favour JCC heavily at every weight other than Welter. 140 would be a tough one, because Pacquiao's firepower is maxed out at that weight and he's much more skilled with his attacks. Overall, though, Chavez' better right hand, defence, fundamentals and godly chin would see him prevail in a war.

if Erick Morales right hand put Pac in ***** Street, and JMM skills schooled pac twice .. imagine what things can do to paco a monster like Chavez, who is better skilled than JMM, better fighter than Erick Morales, Better Stamina than PAC himself, better chin, ....

JCC wins at 130,135 and 140
147 is a toss up ... PAC is no WHITAKER!

Julio Cesar Chavez wins at 130lbs and 135lbs in my estimation. The key to beating Manny Pacquiao is having two things. A great right hand and great punch resistance - the capacity to be able to take Manny's sweeping left hands without wilting. They seldom came any tougher than Chavez, who actually had an underrated defense with his excellent head movement. What separates Chavez from the likes of Barrera, Morales, and Marquez is that he had a terrific left hand in addition to a terrific right hand. He could lead with the right, and he mixed it up in combination with awesome fluidity. I see the body work and thudding head shots taking their toll on Manny, who would survive but see about a 8-4 type decision.

If Manny was a more disciplined combatant and more versatile, you could argue he has the attributes to keep this an outside altercation and use angles...but I think he'd be drawn into a firefight and you don't win those sort of affairs with JC.

At 147lbs, I favor Manny Pacquiao. Pacquiao has seemingly had none or very little side effects as a result of moving up whereas JC clearly wasn't the same force he had been at lower weights.

I would make this fight at 140 and it would be a complete barn burner. I think Pac would circle around Chavez a lot and use his footwork more than we would usually see because when Chavez got in close he would throw that hook to the body and follow up with straight right hands. Julio would be successful getting inside and really doing some work. Pac would be throwing a steady diet of straight lefts, and actually jab to the body when Chavez tried to come in. As the fight went on Pacquiao would be hesitant to throw the right hook because Chavez would start timing it.

I like Chavez by a razor thin decision or late round stoppage in a fight that was practically even coming up to the stoppage.

Basically Manny is a 140 fighter because in all of his 147 fights he could have made 140 on a weigh-in with almost no effort at all. If you favor him at 147 then I think you have to favor him at 140 as well.

At 130 it's a pick em fight (Pacquiao was not in his prime at this weight), at 135 above I choose Pacquiao.

    Pacquiao by UD.

The fight will have some dramatic moments where Pacquiao gets nailed and rocked with also Chavez getting nailed and stunned. Just too much of everything from Pacquiao in this one, speed, power, stamina, movement, defense. Exchanges will be there but Pacquiao will make sure he out-lands him all night.
