I don't see this being talked about much, but I think there may be a reason Ibragimov has adopted this safety first approach. Prior to the Holyfield fight they interviewed Ibragimov and he hinted at retirement, stating he isn't even sure he really wanted to fight anymore becaues it makes his mom hysterical everytime he gets in the right. If this safety first approach is going to be the normal for Ibragivmov then it makes sense, at least to him, not to fight Wlad. I still hope unification happends, but it may not, and I doubt it, but Sultan could possibly retire.

While the WBO isn't considered a major title, I feel it has gained some credibility as of late. If he were to retire it would just add to the delay of any unification. I honestly believe American Media won't embrace any heavyweight champion until he holds all four belts...Hopefully I'm wrong

I think Iggy is just trying to hold on to the title as long as he can, he realizes its extremely doubtful that he would ever beat Wlad. I think Iggy should just play the game and fight his mandatory, theres no reason he should get the ring with Wlad with his fighting style.

Standing 8- I do think americans will embrace a fighter that isnt a unified champion, Vitali was wasnt and he was very popular in america and accepted as champ after Lewis' retired. Wlads style is just not appealing to americans taste, and also lacks the persinality needed to be popular IMO.

WBO has more respect that IBF these days, and if you compare champions the WBO is up there near the top.

    IBRAGIMOV
    MACCARINELLI
    ERDEI
    CALZAGHE
    PAVLIK
    PAUL WILLIAMS
    TORRES
    JUAN DIAZ
    GUZMAN
    LUEVANO
    PONCE DE LEON
    PENALOSA
    CALDERON
    CALDERON..again

Easily better champion than IBF and WBA. Only WBC is arguably better.

If Ibragimov continues fighting in this safety first approach like he did against old Holyfield, and is not motivated to win his fights in convincing fashion, and to fight the best (most dangerous) opponents out there, then he should indeed retire. But of course he won't, just like so many others...

If he agrees to fight Wlad though, he should get alot of respect.

I also read that Iggy wants to do more after boxing. This is just going to be part of his life...unless he gets sucked in.

I have also read interviews where he seems to be looking past his boxing career. He may very well be trying to see how much money he can make out of this deal so that he can retire. A Wlad unification is his best chance to make some big money, but it does make you wonder how he will react if a fight gets brutal. It seems to me like he will be quick to throw in the towel if he's already looking towards retirement.

I heard Ibragimov made 8 million for Holyfield. I'd imagine that's enough to live off of.

You speak the truth, the heavyweight division is dying for a great heavy right now, it would certainly bring some fans back.
