Kelly moved around like a rotten bag of oranges against Martinez. People are saying he is shot because they have eyes in their head and watched the fight. Martinez didn't look great in that fight(I'm not knocking him he did what he needed to do) and I'm thinking there are about 30-40 fighters between 154 and 175 that would feel a whole lot better about fighting Kelly after Martinez laid out the game plan. Its a whole world easier being like Sergio than it being like Bernard. In other words Sergio exposed him and I think the genie cannot be bribed back into the bottle.

Nice this is the best fight for him since the super six is still in progress. Hope this fight can happen soon.

I think Bute is still kind of "untested" in ways. I think we all want to see him fight the best, and see how good his skills look against them. He's looking impressive right now, but how good would he look against greater opposition? Maybe great, maybe not so great. I guess we'll find out.

Kelly though, does look and sound over with. Bute doesn't have the speed of Martinez, but he's got the skills and more power.

Kelly has a punchers chance, but I really don't think this is a good fight for him.
    It could get ugly.

HBO dumps Pavlik when he loses. Too bad for Kelly. I really like the guy. However in a sport like boxing you can be on top of the World one day and literally obsolete the next.

I've gotta hand it to the guys who are still believing in Pav. and standing by him through thick and thin. I cut him a bit of slack with Hopkins after it was reported that he was sick. Two things really got me doubting though. 1) was fighting Espino shorlty after he cancelled the last Williams fight for his infection, after Lowe claimed emphatically after Hopkins that Pav. would never fight again unless he was fully healthy. 2) In the corner after round 10 of Martinez where it sounds like he said he wanted to quit. Now it's about vacation and not being able to make middleweight instead of a rematch against Martinez. I hope I'm all wrong but it's just one thing after another that signals big problems.

We all want to know that but if you were Bute's promoter, you wouldn't let him face someone outside when you can pack an arena and make big money at home. If Bute-Pavlik happens, that will be the first time that the money is outside.

Bute left his home when he went to Canada. Of course, he's used to the Bell Center and Montreal now, it's home for him but when he turned pro, he chose to leave all his family and his country and came to Montreal. That's a courageous move, not an easy one. I think that answers a bit your question about how he handles adversity.

Because he eats and drinks like a pig. There's a big difference between shedding fat and shedding muscle tissue.

Hatton is not exactly a good example of how a professionnal boxer should live between fights. If you want to decline young, Hatton is the model you need to follow.

It seems like certain posters have so much fun flaming me that they still completely miss the point I tried to make by posting the video I posted. The point is actually rather simple. If Pavlik looks that good at 180 pounds, he has no business shedding another 12 pounds to make super middle. If he tries to fight at 168, he'll be right back to struggling to make weight in a very short time.

The best course of action would be a couple small fights at 175, and then go after a title holder. If he fails at 175, retire.

The only things flaming you are your own posts. But I agree with Cocker Poo, Kelly should fight at the weight the most natural for his body.

On the other hand, I totally disagree with those who suggest Pavlik should put on some muscles. ABSOLUTELY NOT! He's the Calzaghe/Morales type, it never was about muscles, boxing rarely is. He should rededicate himself, stay in the gym, avoid the booze and follow a strict diet, and IMO he'll be just fine at 168. Putting on muscles then draining back down would slow him down. The only thing I'd add at this point is a new trainer to the team, but it's understandable if he's sticking with Loew.
