But in all honesty, there are only a few viable options, Katsidies wont fight cos he'll lose his interim title, Bradley and Alexander have their own dates, and Maidana is injured, that leaves very little in the way of opponents. Olugsen is a total unknown aside from ratings, John Murray is already sluggish at 135, at 140 he'd be a walking mummy. The only one i can think of is Prescott.

 

That's what I think as well unless Khan was to pick up a complete unknown frigne contender but he would be ridiculed for having an opponent like that and it would be a pretty pointless fight. Prescott makes the most sense if we are being honest it works well on quite a few levels and with all factors taken into consideration (date, budget, training, next fight, oppo condition etc.) he is the best opponent. And if Golden Boy are serious about making Amir a huge star then they should get it on ITV again.

 

I'm still not convinced he'll fight in July.

If he does however, Murray would be great. Is this why Shah Khan has started talking to the press about Murray :think

Khan has said July 31st is pretty much going to happen and an opponent will be names in 10 days.

I agree you would think July is just to shorter turn around period for a fighter like Khan that requires a proper promotion for the fight and with it just being 8 weeks is that enough for a proper training camp and enough time for injuries to heal, also Freddie be busy as always I think he will find it hard to fit him in especially seeing as Vanes has a major fight coming up. But it seems to be happening from all the quotes coming out of the Khan camp.

 

Shah Khan mentioned Murray yesterday, Khan mentioned him today in regard to Mitchell (Nice to see Khan not gloating over his loss, despite Mitchells bad words, i guess Froch really got up his nose for consistently doing it, and got tweet raped cos of it lol)

Maybe that is the fight that will come off, but for me personally, I'd like him to fight Prescott, its kinda like a warm up/down fight for him, a stay busy fight, before the big one's in October/November.

 

The chances of him fighting John have certainly improved now that Khan isn't with FW and the incistince on options have gone down the drain with their deal. For me he is the only realistic opponent other then Prescott.

If he is serious about taking on Maidana then Prescott is the obvious opponent to take on as a lot of the tactics and skills that he would need to beat Maidana with would be needed against Prescott.

 

If Khan took on Murray all people would say is that he's taking on the smaller man...can't see this happening to be honest

 

One of the problems with Boxing is that it's very rare for everyone to agree that someone is a good opponent and it is even rarer that they still consider that same person a good opponent if they lose.

Murray would be a decent opponent no doubt Khan would be a big favourite but there would be a lot of interesting points to the fight.

 

While Murray would probably snap at the opportunity to fight Khan, it may set him back if he loses, he could easily take a good pasting and might not be the best time for him considering he's just getting into World Rankings. Having said that would love to see Khan box his head off to settle the 'best boxer in North West' malarky lol.

 

Although valid points, you could argue that the exposure could be a brilliant boost for him after the trouble he's had under Hennessy. He'd be headlining with a huge name who generates global interest, he'd be on TV, he'd be challenging a fighter he's been after for ages for a world title and, considering the fight would be at 140, it's a win-win situation for him as he'd keep his Euro title and a decent ranking.

 

Unless he got his head boxed off, and took a multi round beating against a bigger fighter who doesnt have a one punch knock out, it could be career ending.

 

That would show him to be a fighter who won't 'cut it' then.

Too much is made out of one loss nowadays, and 'career ending' beatings like Lacy supposedly had.
