Roy Nelson vs Junior Dos Santos

1) Because he is the number 1 HW fighter and P4P fighter
2) Because unlike anyone else, Fedor is part owner of M1-Global which is a promotion just like UFC
3) Because some of his easiest fights have come from UFC champions
4) Because Fedor wants to fight the best from around the world and from other promotions, the UFC doesnt allow fighters to fight non UFC guys.

as for Overeem
1) Because Overeem wants to fight the best from around the world and from other promotions as well as fight in another sport.



Now whats stopping these UFC fighters from fighting Fedor in M1? M1 has already offered them millions of dollars (far in excess of what they could earn in the UFC), these UFC guys are also not part owners, as well as not having the number 1 HW bargaining power like Fedor.

 

Dana wants ALL options on his fighters. Fedor and Overeem both compete in other competitions other than MMA. Dana wouldnt allow that. This is the main reason why Manhoef never came to the UFC.

 

Santos by KO or TKO. Roy won't be able to deal withi dos santos striking.

 

Whats the odds that the first time Roy looses Dana ditches him.

 

I think Overeem rejected UFC because of money. You got to remember the UFC might pay okay but Overeem can compete in K1, Dream and SF. Same with Mousasi etc They maximise their earnings by fighting multiple times per year. Overeem fought 4 times in 07, 4 times in 08 and 3 times 09. Compare that to Lesnar, Carwin, Mir and Couture who only seem to fight 1 or 2 times a year.

 

I think it's a mismatch personally. JDS is as good as Velasquez, he's the best heavyweight in the division other than the two giants Lesnar and Carwin - but even then, he could be the one to beat either of them, as Gonzaga proved Carwin can be hurt, and both Mir and Couture showed little weaknesses in Lesnar's chin/defences, and JDS is better than all of them, even Mir.

True but I can't fault Dana for not wanting to co-promote with M-1.

 

Thats fine but Fedor competes in other competitions. He was willing to grant an exception for Fedor but wouldnt relent on the copromotion. If other organisations can do it why cant Dictator Dana? Either way the fact that he wants ALL options on his fighters is the reason why guys like Fedor Overeem and Manhoef havent fought in the UFC.

 

White is keeping JDS busy while he settles some beef between Brock and Shane. Then the winner will have to face Cain. He should make Cain vs JDS but he doesn't want to cancel out one of these top contenders by losing. Cain will face the winner then JDS will step in after that. Mir is probably gonna face someone coming off a loss or a lower level fighter. They'll probably throw him in with JDS after.

 

Dos Santos is an animal, and should get this, but Roy ain't no joke baby. Whoever called him a "can" is a clueless ****.

 

It should be Carwin v Brock and Shane v JDS. Roy Nelson doesnt deserve this fight and is a waste of time. These guys brag about fighting the best but wont even fight each other, much less fighting the best fighters from outside the UFC.

Dana just doesnt want to co-promote full stop. They dont want to co-promote with M1, with Strikeforce, with Dream etc. UFC used to co-promote, they did with Pride but the last time that happened, nearly all of their champions lost.

 

I really like Roy but this has a dos Santos win written all over it, but would be major if Nelson beat him.

 

Exclusive slave contracts. Both have said exactly the same. Don't be a UFC nutboy.

 

HOW ABOUT THIS GARBAGE MATCHUP FROM THE UFC.........

"COUNTRY BUMPKIN" ROY NELSON VERSUS JUNIOR DOS SANTOS. Heck even the Strikeforce human punching bag Andrei Arlovski knocked the guy out cold. This JDS is supposed to be UFC's to HW fighters, yet hes facing up against another can.
