What Welterweight in History would you pick to stop Prime Dela Hoya?

Duran, Walcott, Walker, Jack Blackburn (a lightweight), also Gans and Leonard lightweights while Oscar is at welter. Armstrong, Burley, Leonard, Cuevas, Hearns, maybe prime Curry, Napoles for sure. Robinson, Zivic in a BRUTAL, DIRTY BEATDOWN, McLarnin, Basilio, Gavilan, Dave "The Hammer" Shultz, Sugar Ray Leonard again all in 15 rd fights which the others oldtimers know is the real championship distance. You can always tell a young guy because their dreamfights are 12 rdders.

Leonard ALWAYS went for the kill. He was never a safety first boxer. There came a point in all his fights at welter that he went foer the KO. And add to that fact that DLH was an 8 round fighter.

Duran and Robinson imo. Even Armstrong must be considered, regardless of being smaller. Hearns also.

I don't know about that Anarci. While Hearn's would smash DLH with that right handm, it was a SRL left hook which got Hearns into trouble in that first fight and which he never recovered from. I think Duran might be worse for DLH than Hearns.

Hearns is a no brainer here.

Robinson, Napoles, Leonard and especially Hearns..over 15 rounds Duran would be a possibility.

I can think of one with no problem. SUGAR RAY ROBINSON!!! Another one: Sugar Ray Leonard. I thought Felix Trinidad beat him. I thought Ike Quartey beat him and I had Whitaker-De La Hoya a draw, but only because of the WBC's very questionable accidental foul rule. If it weren't for that, I would have had Whitaker beating Oscar by a point. Forget about history, how many welterweights beat Oscar in his time.

besides these that I've mentioned, there are numerous greats from the past..from any division Oscar was ever a force in...that would take ODLH out in deep waters...past the 12th round..and drown him.

Hearns would knock out Delahoya. Oscar would not fight Durans fight like Ray did in the first fight, so Duran would not win. Oscar would outbox him like most good boxers did.

Oscar was hardly a proven 12 round fighter, how would he negotiate the 15 round limit? Emile Griffith would have decisioned Oscar, and others would have again, taken him out into the deep waters of the 13th thru 15th and stopped him.

    Hearns, maybe Walcott.

I don't think anyone else has more than a puncher's chance. Oscar had a great chin.
