Pacquiao is currently #1 in Ring Mag, ESPN, SecondsOut and many other P4P lists. Floyd is #1 in Yahoo Sports and other P4P lists.

Did Floyd really overtake Pacquiao in the P4P list?

Let's see the sequence of events...

    1. Pacquiao is #1 when Floyd announced his comeback from retirement.
    2. Pacquiao KO'ed Hatton inside 2 rounds and further cementing his #1 status.
    3. Floyd dominated JMM over 12 rounds and close the gap between him and Pacquiao. Floyd was not installed as #1 in any rankings organizations or websites. He was retained in the #2 spot.
    4. Pacquiao TKO'ed Cotto in the 12th round and again distance himself from Floyd.
    5. Pacquiao dominated Clottey over 12 rounds and further pulling away from Floyd.
    6. Floyd dominated Mosley over 12 rounds and once again close the gap between him and Pacquiao but not able to overtake him.

In summary, Floyd's win over JMM is no greater than PAC's win over Hatton. Floyd's win over Mosley is no greater than the combined wins of Pacquiao against Cotto and Clottey.

IMO, Floyd was not able to overtake Pacquiao in the P4P list.

i would be mad if either of them were at 1....both deserve it in their own right....Pac at 1 is cool with me Floyd at one is cool with me.

the shyts so close it dont even matter anymore...they just need to fight.

Money is head and shoulders above the rest of the competition.

Yeah, it's more like they're of equal standing right now P4P-wise but I'm leaning more to the opinion that Pacquiao is just slightly ahead as what I outlined in my previous post.

honestly...the JMM fight hurt Floyd....i thik had he came back an won a tune-up against another WW...then Mosley....i think his argument stands stronger.

I agree or if Floyd stopped JMM and/or stopped Mosley that also makes a stronger case for Floyd as P4P #1 now.

pound 4 pound means skills that transcend weight classes. floyd has skills that are currently unmatched and therefore i rank him #1 pound for pound and think he would beat pacquiao. that said, pacquiao has accomplished some sick **** with his last 3 wins all going up in weight and legitimacy, which could definitely give him the # 1 p4p spot as well. however, if he didn't knock out and devastate so many fighters at his naturally lower weight, how can he so consistently knock out the top dogs at higher weight classes? the steroid thing is a legitimate question, especially with the resistance met from pacquiao's camp.

a mosley win is better than a cotto win i presume.

  10. Same as I always reply to this:

They're 1a and 1b - settle it in the ring.

Colored rectangles really shows who is ahead. Stupid P4P list don't know ****.

P4P list are all opinion, that's why there is so many, I personally have Mayweather ahead, but if you don't, that's your opinion. That's why there's no official list.

    EDIT:

Fixed diagram to show how I look at the accomplishments

Pac is still No. 1. Floyd is clearly behind him.

    NO.

Win over Mosley was great. Win over Marquez is null and void because he did not respect the catchweight and it was a complete and utter mismatch.

Floyd needs to beat Pac who has not put a step wrong after becoming recognized as the P4P #1. Simple as that. If Mayweather gets the #1 any other way it would be cheating Pac, and cheating the sport.
