can someone tell me what was so impressive about degale on saturday? he does have the natural tools - reflexes, speed, and to a certain degree he has some power. so i'm not saying he won't go far. but i thought he was incredibly sloppy - fairly flat footed, defence was crap, and just winging wild shots. horton was so weak im sure it made degale complacent which was the reason he was so poor, but i dont understand how people are giving him props on that performance?

I think Gavin has the mentality and skill to go further than De Gale but i dont think he will, he is still too tight, leans in too much, and i can envisage him getting hit in fights against higher caliber fighters(World Class).

De Gale has the same kinda of talent but not the mental strength/focus of Gavin, he does however have a better defense and shows greater versatility imo.

If Gavin can change a few things with his style, like where he distributes his weight, learns to fight in a more fluid style, then it could help him defensively, then! i could see him going further but untill then i dont think he will forfill his true potential, that said i dont think De Gale with fulfill his either, he does not have the mental focus to be an elite fighter, not to say either wont win a world title, they most probably will, cant see either being a next level type of guy though, Gavin has the best shot if he can improve, De Gale is stuck with his problem, thats his personality as a fighter, to be overconfident and lack focus.

    Gavin.

Degale is not even the best prospect at his weight in this country. I would be putting a good wager on Groves to win if they met.
Gavin is better at pretty much everything than Degale. Degale looked decent in patches the other night and it was a nice finish, but he slaps a lot, is quite wide, not especially powerful and is falling in love with the idea of showboating too much. He ducks illegally low too, but that's not a real issue.

Gavin is far more compact in his work, picks his shots more carefully, has a better jab, better defence and better footwork.

I think Degale is good but far too cocky you could see he wanted to ko horton by making it look easy. He only had any real success when he focused and used his ability. I think if you put him in with a real test where he would have to be on his game and use his skills he would impress. Groves and Degale could be the next Eubank Benn rivalry and with DeGale being Gold medal material he could possibly attract tv

Frankie Gavin will go the furthest. I predict Degale to be the first one to lose, he's too cocky and it will be his undoing....well here's hoping anyway.:D

I picked frankie, although he gets cut and he also could not make the weight for the olympics I really enjoy watching him box which I think is a excellent quality in a fighter.
