Lumpini Stadium is where the top Muay Thai fighters in Thailand fight. The guy in the white gloves, Bee, is a former champion of Lumpini, and the other guy, Ae, I'm not sure if he was champion but I know for sure he was a top ranked fighter at Lumpini. What do you think of their overall boxing skill? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jdD09Ozw8t8[/ame]
I've trained in Thailand and you really can't judge by their sparring, they don't spar like they do here (west) its very controlled and they don't go full power their padwork is the key for them and the fact that alot of them fight 2-5 times a month so sparring is'nt as important as for say somone who only fights a few times a year.
The guy with the white gloves is definitely very good and elusive, he was toying with the other guy. The guy with the red not so much and his hooks are quite wide so it gave the other guy lots of time to slip, he also wasnt nearly as hard to hit. On a side note...are they wearing rock-em-sock-em's cuz their gloves look hyuge!
as boxers very sloppy as muay thai fighters, most likely very lethal different sports different skills
Theres decent skills there, certainly better than I was expecting. My peeve of sparring without headgear bugs me but at least they werent going war speed.
They are going quite slow and not being particularly technical. Might be a skill thing, or could be a laziness thing. In MT the hands just aren't as refined, especially with the majority of Thais. Their kicks knees and elbows though... vicious. The footwork they are using is pretty typical of thai boxing and probably isn't helping. At my old MT gym, there's a cambodian guy and when he trains he does pretty much the same thing as these guys. Very slow and makes the exact same noises haha. Then when he fights all this speed comes out of nowhere and he's like a rabid animal.
Here's a quick vid of Bee kicking the pads (pretty sure its him from a few years back anyway) [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cF9soaBJNmc&feature=related[/ame]
