Im a HUGE Strongman fan and a casual MMA fan. What is your stance on Pudzianowski's future? Should Big Pudzian continue to contribute to his MMA career? Should he get down to proper shape, learns a lot of moves and what not, and stay in MMA? Or..... should he go back to the sport he is best at? His legacy currently in WSM competitions is clearly one of the best, and if he goes back to WSM instead of staying at MMA, he can even make a real good stance and account as the GOAT.....If he wins even another title this year, that would seriously set him even farther up front towards the big boys like ver Magnusson, Sigmarsson, and Kazmier. What is your opinion of Pudzianowski and what do you think he should do in the future?
I think he should stick to what he said and keep fighting till the end. This is very early to be writing him off. He has already nothing left to prove in strongman, and from what I hear, he was already slipping in it anyway. I think he should just knock out cans left and right until he gets better. He definitely had no business being in the same ring with Sylvia experience and skill wise but it showed everyone his balls. If he quits now, it will look disgraceful after boasting so much. He dug himself a hole with that trash talk. Now he has to climb out the hard way.
Slipping? Thats nonsense. He came in second in 2009 dude......and he lost to a real good competitor in Savicks, which is no shame at all being Savickas is a real strong dude...
Sylvia looked like **** and he still lost against him....(at the same time , Sylvia was more experienced as a fighter) If we're looking on the positive side and if we're trying to find excuses... We can say it was afterall , only his 3rd fight. (afterall Lesnar lost in less than 2 minutes in his 2nd fight )... Pudz is freakishly strong but has zero....ZERO stamina. Surprisingly , he seems to have a pretty good chin...Oh , and his striking is deplorable too. It's a shame because if he knew a bit of wrestling , he would've finished sylvia in the first...a guy this strong ? But it's a waste... He should abandon mma imo because his stamina/endurance is too much of a problem. But ! at the same time , Sylvia kept resting on Pudz , using all his weight on the guy (which was a smart thing to do)..that's also what probably drained all his energy early in the fight.
It's up to Pudz IMO. He looked terrible against Sylvia (who wasn't impressive either). He spent the later part of the fight running and covering up due to his severe lack of cardio. To attempt to be successful from here, he would have to work on every aspect of the game (striking, ground, wrestling, subs etc.) as he only has short term strength on his side at the moment. His dog**** first attempt could possibly be the perspective he needs to really understand what is required to FIGHT and apply that to his training etc. I think his freakish muscle mass isn't necessarily a big cardio problem if he trains correctly- look at Brock Lesnar for instance, he's a monster and goes for days.
I have no clue I don't follow strongman. I have a friend who trains for these competitions and that's what he told me. But he certainly doesn't have anything left to prove. I would move on to something I can start fresh in.
I am amazed people are voting to stay in MMA. He is 33 and has no skills in any aspect of fighting. Striking is AWFUL, no wrestling background, no martial arts like BJJ, so he is starting from scratch at the age of 33 and has one attribute...strength. He has no stamina at all and will have to dedicate himself to stamina work and shedding muscle before he can begin to actually work on fighting techniques. He also tapped because he was tired. I am not going to go overboard on that, but we have seen other fighters refuse to tap until they are out cold or have a limb broken. He tapped when he was taking some ground and pound and felt too tired to do much back. That does not bode well. I cannot see why anyone would want to watch him fight, he brings nothing to the sport apart from a novelty factor that has now been used up and shown to be worthless in the ring. Go back and try to win a 6th World Strongest Man and further cement his legacy in that sport.
he should stay in mma because right now he has made the strongman scene look like a bunch of pussys who look big and tough but cant back it up when they get hit. so he has to stay and complete his mission!!
I think that he should go back to strongman comps. If he wants to stay in MMA, it should be strictly on the freak show circuit in Japan. He'd probably make a decent amount of money, and he'd be able to juice while facing off against easy opponents. Dude has no future on the elite level.
It is pretty evident now what Pudzian and his management thought would take place. Sylvia has a recognizable name and an impressive record. However, he has been faltering and fading badly as evidenced by the fiasco against Mercer and the non-competitive blitzing he suffered with Fedor. The key might be though that Sylvia, while looking awful in these fights, was beaten in seconds and did not suffer a long and sustained beating in either fight. The bottom line here is that Tim Sylvia is a two-time ex-UFC heavyweight champion and a seasoned pro who has fought the best. He is also just 34 years old, and although obviously past his prime, he is by no means an old man at this juncture. The Pole and his people thought they had an easy mark who would be blitzed early and they turned out to be dead wrong. Blitzed early by the likes of Fedor or by an albeit ancient ex-heavyweight contender - yes. By the former premier strongman in the world - no.
He needs to lose at least 30-40 pounds. Sure it might be hard to do but the guy can't even tuck his elbows in properly he is that big. He gassed horribly. He needs to work on everything other than soccer kicks and imitating a blind bull. His strength will only make a difference if he has technique other wise technique will beat strength.
