mayweather needs the fight more, not because some rank manny higher then him atg wise or p4p wise.but only because mayweather is still undefeated and mayweather claims to be the best ever.manny does not claim to be the best ever, its mayweather that says he is the best ever.so i think mayweather needs the fight more, as long as he keeps winning and beating the best he can scream that all day long and its ok.

mayweather needs to beat manny, berto and mw champ and then ride of in the sunset as the very best in the last 50 yrs at ****ING LEAST.

if may had fought better opponents then he would have a better resume. youre in the very small minority of people who share taht opinion though.

No not yet, he has to beat pacquiao in order to be considered better than pernell whitaker. Whitaker beat chavez, nelson, vazquez, mcgirt twice. He unified the lightweight division and was the linear welterweight champ for 4 years. Mayweather is still below him in my opinion.

My 7th-20th is something like this
    7. willie pep
    8. joe gans
    9. mickey walker
    10. benny leonard
    11. sugar ray leonard
    12. archie moore
    13. roberto duran
    14. barbados joe walcott
    15. pernell whitaker
    16. marvin hagler
    17. carlos monzon
    18. floyd mayweather
    19. manny pacquiao
    20. joe louis

Why not? I dont wear oldschool glasses when i do my rankings. He moved up in weight, something neither hagler or monzon ever did. Thier legacies are based on beating smaller men.

nah nothing to do with oldschool glasses. jsut that who has he beat to get there? his best victory is over a 34 yr old DLH. everyone in the top 4O will have a better victory than that. my feeling is that floyd could have got himself there, he has the skills. but based on what he actually produced in his career, theres no way that calibre of opponent cuts it. beat prime pacquiao, now we're talking.

Maybe you didnt follow boxing back in the days, but his win over genaro hernandez was a big accomplishment at the time, his win over corrales made him a linear champ, he holds wins over marquez, hatton, mosley, judah, castillo, i dont care about the circumstances of the fights, he beat them. Also, the fact that he is being recognized as the top p4p fighter holds some weight in my eyes. My ranking was also based slightly on projections as i expect he will pick up 3-4 more important wins in his career.

I also try and even out the eras, if my top 20 consisted of 17 fighters that fought before the 1960's, it would be heavily weighed towards the old days. it seems to me, that most people only have ali, duran and leonard in their top 20 among modern fighters, every other fighter seems to be some guy from the ancient days.

ive followed all of his career and watched all of his fights. DLH at 154 and 34 years old is still his best victory. Genaro Hernandez is no fighter u beat in order to gain top 2O atg recognition, neither is judah, hatton, welterweight marquez etc. DLH for sure is his best opponent. there is nothing worthy of top 2O status in the man's resume and its not as deep as u make it out to be. where he excels is the manner in which he beat all those guys. thats where he gets his rep from. but the opponents themselves are below par as far as atg's go.

I hope PBF's boyfriend Leonard Ellerbe sees this poll and reports back the results back to his manz.

Pac is in greater need. Floyd's HUGELY wealthy and unbeaten - Pac is neither.

I think Pac needs to stop listening to Roach and just AGREE to the blood tests, 8 days before the fight is much more than enough to regain strength, even if he gives a ****ing gallon of the stuff.
