Just been watching Lacy v Calzaghe as a warm up for tonight, and it has struck me what a good corner man Enzo is. Add this to his undoubted ability in preparing fighters, and the disproportionate number of world champs in his stable (Macaranelli and Rees), does anyone agree with me that he is the best trainer around at the moment.

No. He's certainly right for Joe though.

Not sure of the numbers to be honest, but the gym in Newbridge doesn't look that massive.

Joe Calzaghe - WBO & Ring Super Middle Champ
Enzo Maccarinelli - WBO Cruiser Champ & Ring No 5
Gavin Rees - WBA Light Welter Champion & Ring No 3
Gary Lockett - Decent fringe world Middleweight
Bradley Pryce - Commonwelth Light Middleweight Champ
Nathan Cleverly - Up & coming - Enzo expects big things from him 10-0
Harry Miles - Young kid 1-0

sure he's a good trainer, I mean to have fighters on a world class level means you have to have some knowledge of the sport.

agreed, I guess to say he is the best is perhaps a bit much, but he must be up there as one of the best.

When Pryce split with Enzo, he immediately looked like a hyped piece of **** and lost about 6 of 8 fights. He recently returned to Enzo though, and has looked like a fringe contender, winning 6 in a row. There is no doubt Enzo is a great trainer.

    Manny Stewart
    Freddie Roach
    Joe Goosen
    Floyd Mayweather Sr.
    Buddy McGirt
    Ronnie Shields
    Tommy Brooks

    IMO are better.

You're such an idiot after a comment like that.

Please answer me one simple question: Think about it, what is the job of a trainer?

He has to up there with the very best.

What's even more impressive is that he doesn't even come from a boxing background so effectively taught himself.

I'd certainly say he's the trainer of the year if Joe wins tonight. He's one of the best in the business, although I'd put Nacho, Roach, Mayweather Sr. and possibly Steward ahead of him.
