Yeah Viruet did a fair bit of running, he did not run as much in the rematch from what i recall, infact that was a pretty good fight from what i remember.

Vaden just sat back and let Norris dominate him, i was like what!, seem to remember Frank Warren being at ringside for that one.

Couldn't agree more really. It was probably the biggest travesty in the history of the HOF induction process. Recognition for charitable or social advancement is all well and fine, and a commendable aim to boot. But not when the criteria under scrutiny is how many good opponents you took out in a boxing ring.

And I tend to think that Barry's influence on the advancement of peace in Ireland is somewhat overstated in itself. He gets more credit half the time than the likes of figures such as Mow Mowlam.

I don't like it when people label it running, when it sometimes is an effective way of winning a bout, like Dirrel against Froch.

But true running, see Juan Manuel Marquez vs Derrick Gainer.

Yeah, I recently asked Vaden about this incident as there was a lot of hype surrounding the fight. He attributed his poor performance to having the fight cancelled when Tyson broke his thumb, and then having to go back into training and being forced to lose 30 pounds to make weight.
Vaden was an interesting guy, personally I felt he was pretty talented but didnt have the killer instinct to be a long reigning champ. His fight with Vincent Pettway was very telling, it was almost like he wasnt sure he wanted to be champion, and then decided at the last minute he did and went out in the 12th and stopped Pettway. He was a pretty emotional guy, but also very intelligent.
After all the talk he had for Norris it was a baffling performance on his part.

Tommy Morrison did some pretty smart running vs George Foreman...he switched roles and did the smart thing..meaning he was not so one dimensional after all.

Nothing shameful in running all night as long as, like Duodenum was alluding to, some offensive engagement is done as well, ala Willie Pastrano vs Harold Johnson.

John Duplessis vs Julio Cesar Chavez.

I remember reading that a Louisiana Highway patrol officer reportdley pulled over Duplessis after the Chavez fight. The cop said Duplesis told him dont you know who i am im Super D Duplesis. The cop then told Duplessis yeah i know who you are but you were driving so fast i thought that Bad Ass Mexican was still on your ass! LOL LOL
