We'll have to disagree here as well, on Marquez that is. I've always thought it's pretty blatant the man's weakness is his footwork, and that's why Mayweather implemented the gameplan of outmaneuvring his man. Yeah, like i said, Marquez was clearly not at his best, but strictly from the viewpoint of Mayweather's legs being on display, well they clearly worked well, regardless of the poor opposition. That's how i see it. I'm not blowing the win out of proportion, the win is absolutely nothing. I'm just looking at it from a performance perspective. We can only wait and see on this one. I strongly believe that his legs won't have deteriorated inbetween the Marquez and Molsey fights. The man's a versatile fighter and just fought differently, that's my opinion. I reckon he'll beat Pac for sure personally.
And you think this because he got caught in the second round?? Nah, he controlled the range and distance well enough to win 11 of 12 rounds. Floyd got clocked by Corley just as badly. Floyd has fought somewhat similiarly against both Judah and Corley, and because he fought this way he left himself in harms way more often. I actually thought Floyd boxed beautifully against Mosley because he completely shut him down after weathering the intial Mosley onslaught, and it wasnt because Mosley became a shot fighter overnight. Floyd was just fighting in a more difficult offensive stance and allowing Mosley to get closer than the usual Mayweather opponent. When he fights Pac, he will have a pretty decent reach advantage and because Pac is short and also doesnt jab that well, he will fight in his usual characteristic defensive range fight and let Pac come to him and try and overcome his massive deficits in reach and boxing ability. Its makes perfect sense as Manny is seen as mostly a punching threat more than a boxing threat. I dont think Mayweather felt that way about Mosley at all.
Um......no 2 different fighters, and if your using that version of Corrales to gauge him thats pretty ludacris,he was clearly not at his best with all of his out of the ring problems and having trouble making that weight, just a horrible analogy on many fronts.:-(
People seem to forget that Williams ko'd Quintana brutally in the rematch,he fought different, more like a Hearns, but even still Mayweather would not be able to deal with Williams's onslaught and he if fights like he against Quintana in the rematch Mayweather may get stopped,Pac has no chance just to small and he does not use his jab or go to the body,Williams by ko.
How can we compare him to Hearns stylistically on the strength of a fight that was so short? And one in which he simply caught his man and then followed it up and finished him. He's never fought anything like Hearns in any fight prior or after. Terrible post.
I said that night you didnt really read the post good,he was calm collective and not reckless like he usually is he used his jab to close the distance,he looked like a groomed technician boxer puncher that night.Usaully he starts the fight from the off with his go ahead 120 punch a round style from the opening bell.No he's not like Hearns but on that particular night he was very impressive with that dismantling
I'm not using that only fight as an example. His style is very much like Corrales. Styles make fights and this is a similar stylistic matchup only Williams is a bigger busier man but it makes no difference.
That's what i'm saying, the fight can't be used to gauge his standing when it comes to fighting great fighters like Mayweather. You're blowing the Quintana rematch out of proportion in terms of his performance. This fight didn't even last a round, he caught his man with a great shot and then followed it up, and that is leading you to conclude that he stops Floyd Mayweather, who has never come close to being stopped in his entire career. Sorry to sound crude, but i think it's quite bad logic. We'll see if the fight is ever to happen.
I'm surprised to see most giving Williams a chance. I actually think this fight would be somewhat embarrassing for tall Paul. Yes he's taller but then he was much taller than Quintana and Martinez and yet was so easily countered in both (and even against Cintron to some extent). He doesn't use his height well and I see Mayweather easily controlling the distance and picking through Williams' porous defence whenever he comes in. Not only are they in different leagues skill-wise, but Mayweather is infinitely more intelligent as well. I say Floyd wins every round in a 12-round decision.
