If Mayorga didn't stupidly drop his hands and eat the 2nd left hook it might have been a closer fight for a longer period of time. That shot buckled him. The dance was funny and covered it up nicely though.

bull****. mayorga was tko'd in his first pro fight. look it up pal.

this fight proved to me that cheato had been cheating for a long time. it took him 9 rounds to tko a natural welterweight who came in overweight. he threw everything but the kitchen sink at him and mayorga only went down due to sheer exhaustion. yet, the first time he tags naturally stronger fighters like vargas and joppie they start doing the stanky leg? :huh

What buckled him was the uppercut at the end of the first round. 15 more seconds and Mayo wouldve eaten canvas. You dont give tito free shots. In the third round Tito was landing brutal combos.

The atmosphere that night was just crazy. At that time Mayorga was still a relevant fighter and his trash talk was classic it really reeled you in when he says im going to let him hit me with his best hooks then KO him. Im thinking this is Tito Trinidad hes talking about but this Mayorga is actually badass enough to pull this off. Also Trinidad always brought this weird IT factor with him all his fights got you pumped up especially this one since it had been over 2 years since his last. Nobody wanted to see him retire in 2002 I dare you to find someone who did. The MSG crowd sounded like they where on the verge of riots shortly before the bell just crazy.

You're saying that because Mayorga was TKO'd in his first fight that he touched the canvas... are you sure, or are you just reading boxrec? Because I knew Mayorga had been stopped but to my knowledge he had never been down...

The only thing tha fight proved was that Trinidad was not the same fighter he was but still lightyears ahead of Mayorga. Trinidad hurt Mayorga in the first round just like he did to Vargas and Joppy. Mayorga lasted 9 rounds, Vargas 12 (or 11 1/2) and Joppy 5. I think you need to watch more of Tito's fight so you can see how much slower and less explosive Trinidad is against Mayorga than in his prime.

Even though Tito is not known for his speed a lot of his KO's came from very precise accurate punches that his opponents didn't see coming. The last time he was able to fight like that was against Joppy and the tune up fight after losing to Hopkins.
