What is the best protein shake/diet that will put on muscle if accompanied with weight training?
Lets say you are doing dumbells every night, reps of sit ups, etc.

Is creatine with whey protein still the best product that is legal on the market or are there any alternatives.

    Asking for my mate!

    Cheers

The "best product" to gain muscle is heavy weights, a balanced diet high in calories (protein rich), and lots of sleep. Whey protein is the best protein supplement though.

i dont think he will need much weight, his head will provide enough, he can do bodyweight squats and it will give him the benefits of weighted squats.

If your mate is working the same muscle every night hes not going to make much progress.

All you need for muscle gain are these three things.

    1. Lift something heavy (weights suit this perfectly).
Its best to stick to compound lifts, these use the most muscle and promote the most growth, and youll be able to see improvements much quicker. Make sure your working your lower body as well and not just your upper half.

    2. Consume more calories than you expend, and have a large amount of protein in your diet (this can be achieved through normal foods, however suppliments such as protein shakes can help alot.

    3. Rest, you dont grow while your lifting, you grow while your sleeping. And one nights sleep is definetly not enough time for a muscle to heal. I always give at least 3 night sleep between working the same muscle. If the muscle is still sore Ill take longer, but you wont be able to make good gains in strength and size if your not letting your muscle recover sufficiently.

    Hope this helps.

Join a gym. Do a compound routine. Eat more protein. Within a year the rest of your body should have caught up with your head.

if youre doing dumbells every day make sure youre doing different muscle sets and giving atleast 1 day preferably more before doing the same muscle again. I think you know that though..

If youre just starting I wouldnt take anything the first two months or so, you'll notice a rapid improvement in the first 8weeks or so. Then if youre wanting to put on weight and are noticing youre not gaining any, then it would be good to start with the whey protein and do that for a while and maybe in a year or so if youre not makign the progress you want you can try creatine.

I just dont think you'll need anything right away when starting from stratch.

And train with a partner/spotter who will motivate you and can help you get that last 2 reps that you couldnt do by yourself. You can also do other techniques like negative reps with a spotter that you normally couldnt do.
