Exactly. Mollo can beat stiffs like McBride or regional fighters like Binkowski, but put him in with any halfway decent HW, and he'll get beaten, probably pretty badly. Even today's Golota would be too much for him.

 

Please spare us your little ad campaign nut licker. Mike Mollo hasn't accomplished jack **** in a weak division and at this point he is out of his leauge, with a fighter like Golota. His very best win is against McBride and (unlike Golota) he has already been starched badly against someone outside of the top ten, in TOS (a born Gatekeeper). His overall level of opposition is downright pathetic, at one point facing a guy with a 12-128-4 record. His latest accolades have included wins over Zack Page (12-10-1) and a movie extra and at best a regional contender, Art Binkowski aka Corn Griffin. As has already been comented, even today, a past-prime Golota towers over Mike Mollo in every single boxing attribute. This would be easy pickings for Golota as Mollo would be totally outclassed.

Being a Chicagoan myself, I'd prefer Mollo and Golota to move up their seperate ways.

Besides, if Mollo wants to talk tough, he should get a rematch from Touch of ****.

This fight would makes no sense for Golota. Why would he take it? I am guessing the money would not be good and winning the fight does nothing to get him back into title contention (unrealistic or not).

Mike Mollo has little name recognition and zero fan base (OK, he has about twenty guys from Oak Lawn and his family for fans). He is not a big draw even in the Chicago area. For a fighter like Golota at the end of career and probably looking to make a little more "gotowka" before he retires -- fighting Mollo does very little for you. All risk and no reward.

This all being said, Mollo looked good in his last fight and deserves another shot at a TOS level fighter. I'd like to see him in there with a Brian Minto, Vinnie Madalone or even a Joe Mesi. He needs to build a resume, fan-base and demonstrate that he can box against a guy who can defend and fire back.

 

agreed. mollo looks like a tough fight for a lot of heavyweights: good movement, good speed, power, and toughness.

 

We don't know if Mollo has good movement and toughness. We know he is aggressive, has some power and likes to attack. He comes to fight in shape and has good handspeed. How will he react when he gets hit himself? Who knows. How will he react if he cannot get through his opponents defense in the first three/six minutes of the fight? Who knows. He needs to stay busy, fight more often than he has, against a variety of types of fighters. In a word, he needs to keep developing as a pro. In his defense, I know he is frustruated by Don King's inability/lack-of-effort in getting him bigger fights. Look for Mollo to go with a different promoter once his contract is up with King in a few months.

 

His loss to TOS kind of hurts his career. He should get back on the ring with him and avenge this loss.

 

I like the guy, exciting fighter to watch..he'll probably fall short at top level but still....

Now that Kali Meehan has softened TOS up abit, maybe Molllo can now avenge that loss.

As you said, that loss was a blow to him being seen as a prospect. He stepped up, and was stopped. Not too encouraging.
